Pokémon UNITE is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) where two teams of five battle by defeating wild Pokémon to level up and evolve during matches. The game is free on Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS, and launched in July 2021 to mixed reception.

Pokémon UNITE launched on Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2021, and reached Android and iOS mobile devices on September 22, 2021. The March 23, 2027, end arrives a few months shy of the game’s sixth anniversary, counting from the Nintendo Switch launch on July 21, 2021, Shacknews reports. This is not the first time Pokémon has ended support for a spin-off, though games such as Pokken Tournament remain playable.

TheGamer reports that TiMi Studios and The Pokémon Company no longer believe the game is worth supporting, though it is unclear how large the player base is five years in. Shacknews reports that new content for Pokémon UNITE was announced during the Pokémon World Championships before the game was suddenly removed from the event’s list of games, causing trepidation, and that the game was left off the Pokémon World Championships 2027 list, a removal that led many players to expect the shutdown.

Polygon.com reported on June 26, 2026, that four Legendary Pokémon would join the game: Yveltal on July 3, 2026, Palkia on July 17, 2026, Reshiram on August 7, 2026, and Solgaleo on August 21, 2026. Season 43 began July 1, 2026, with Regal Style: Pikachu as a Battle Pass reward likely restricted to Premium Pass purchasers, and seasons typically last around a month.
