Warhorse Studios confirmed on Oct. 27, 2026 that intruders accessed its company systems and company data during a cyberattack, and the studio said it is assessing the damage.:

Martin Frývaldský, the studio’s chief executive, called the incident serious and said the immediate priority is to secure systems, establish the extent of the breach, and protect employees, partners, and the community. “This is a serious incident for Warhorse Studios and everyone affected,” he said. IGN describes the cyberattack as serious, and Warhorse is working with cybersecurity experts and relevant authorities to investigate the incident and assess its full impact. IGN says the developer contacted law enforcement to identify the people responsible.:

Intruders gained unauthorized access to Warhorse’s internal systems and corporate data during the attack. “Warhorse Studios confirms that it has been the target of a cyberattack,” the studio’s website announcement said. Warhorse has not said what information, if any, was taken, and the extent of the breach is not clear at the moment. It will share more information once it can do so responsibly, but it will not conduct further interviews or comment beyond its announcement.{

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was developed by Warhorse Studios and arrived last year to strong critical and commercial reception, earning an IGN score of 9/10. The studio is building an open-world Middle-earth Lord of the Rings RPG, its first project outside the Kingdom Come series. A future Kingdom Come title is expected sometime in 2027/2028.{

The studio is developing another Kingdom Come title that might be Kingdom Come: Deliverance 3 or a spinoff, and IGN lists it alongside the Lord of the Rings project as current work. Daniel Vávra, who directed Kingdom Come: Deliverance, left his post in February to work on a Kingdom Come film. IGN has also reported that critics have objected to the studio’s recent use of generative AI (artificial intelligence that generates content).:

A cyberattack this month compromised 196 customer accounts at Capcom, and retailer Playasia went offline during the same period. IGN said recent hacking incidents overlapped with Black October, a period when AI agents disrupted internet security, though it said it is unclear whether those incidents relate to the Warhorse attack.:

Separately, Kotaku reported that a problem with PHP, a server-side scripting language, recently took many websites offline and caused some older browser games to end service. The outlet places the PHP problem within a broader rash of AI-exposed security vulnerabilities affecting online operators including gaming companies. Capcom removed online features from the PlayStation 4 and Steam editions of Street Fighter V overnight due to a PHP security issue while keeping offline content available, and it stopped PlayStation Store and Steam sales in stages while it prepares a fix. Both Capcom and Square Enix experienced recent online breaches, and neither company said whether AI likely played a role.:

The Rings of Power will return for its second season on Nov. 11, 2026. Game Rant pointed to the poorly received 2023 Gollum game as proof that Lord of the Rings fandom has been difficult lately, and it said concrete details about Warhorse’s Middle-earth adaptation remain limited. The outlet calls the project Warhorse’s confirmed Middle-earth RPG.:

In its Kingdom Come series, Warhorse brought on a full-time historian to review designs and partnered with universities, museums, and cultural institutions. Researchers studied the Talhoffer Fechtbuch, worked with experienced sword fighters on combat, and examined historical materials, construction methods, color schemes, and craftsmanship for locations including Kuttenberg and Trosky Castle. The studio also looked into less-documented aspects of everyday medieval existence, such as how people communicated, practiced religion, formed relationships, and handled daily worries.:
