In October 2026, Xbox launched the Indie Selects hub, offering a rotating selection of indie games through the Xbox Store and the website Xbox.com/IndieSelects.
The October 2026 Indie Selects lineup consists of six games: Mortal Shell II, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, Mewgenics, The Sinking City 2, Woodo, and Lou’s Lagoon. For October, the theme presents Halloween as a period for imagination and creativity, inviting players to step into worlds that go beyond the ordinary rather than relying solely on jump scares.
Mortal Shell II speeds up combat by removing the stamina gauge, letting players blend melee weapons, sidearms, abilities, and executions, and features a compact, interconnected world where acquiring a new Shell changes how you fight. Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, a 2D tag‑team fighter, features characters drawn from Avatar: The Last Airbender alongside The Legend of Korra, with distinct fighters who use elemental bending, special moves, assists, and collaborate as a team.
Mewgenics, a roguelike tactical turn‑based RPG created by Edmund McMillen, randomizes items, skills, and attributes each playthrough and includes a system that breeds mutant cats across generations, complemented by dark humor. The Sinking City 2 sends players into a flooded 1929 Arkham where Calvin Rafferty hunts for his missing fiancée Faye and encounters the Slither, a parasitic worm capable of reanimating corpses if not stopped.
Woodo asks players to put together handcrafted wooden dioramas that tell a story about Foxy and Ben the Frog, calling for rotation of 3D scenes to find hidden pieces while maintaining a gentle, narrative‑focused pace; Lou’s Lagoon allows exploration of storm‑damaged tropical islands with a seaplane, glider, fishing rod, and a two‑way vacuum tool known as the Swirler to collect resources, fix radio towers for communication and fast travel, and look for a missing uncle called Lou. Microsoft says the Indie Selects hub improves discoverability for smaller games by shifting visibility away from pure algorithmic odds, giving indie titles a stronger chance to find players, while the October 2026 lineup ranges in price from $19.99 for Woodo to $49.99 for Mortal Shell II and The Sinking City 2, with Avatar Legends at $29.99, Mewgenics at $39.99, and Lou’s Lagoon at $24.99, and the Indie Selects consist of recommendations curated by the ID@Xbox team and are not offered as part of Xbox Game Pass or tied to a release schedule.
