Alinea Analytics estimated that Gears of War: E-Day sold approximately 230,000 units across Steam and Xbox Series X|S.

The estimate breaks down to 168,000 Steam sales and 62,000 on Xbox Series X|S, per Alinea Analytics. Alinea Analytics estimates total revenue from Steam and Xbox ecosystems at around $37 million, with Steam’s share roughly $11 million and Xbox’s share about $26 million. According to Alinea Analytics, about 1.7 million players played Gears of War: E-Day through Xbox Game Pass, a subscription service, and 722,000 bought a $30 Premium upgrade for early access. Analyst Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics noted that Xbox sales of 62,000 were far outnumbered by 722,000 Premium upgrades, suggesting the $70 premium tier sees little uptake on Xbox.

According to Push Square, the remastered Gears of War: Reloaded, based on a 2006 game, is forecast to sell around 700k units on Sony’s console.

Summer Game Fest reports note that the PS5 version of Gears of War: E-Day is nearly complete and located in dev The Coalition’s office. According to Push Square, Sony’s console granted the game a release rating in several regions, while Microsoft accidentally displayed a PlayStation logo at the close of an unedited trailer. According to Push Square and PSX Extreme, with new leadership, Microsoft shifted away from releasing Gears of War: E-Day on PS5 and renewed its focus on Xbox console exclusives. According to Push Square, Microsoft has not released a statement challenging Alinea Analytics’ sales figures, and it continues to assert that Gears of War: E-Day is exclusive to Xbox.

According to Push Square and Geeks + Gamers, some observers note that Alinea Analytics’ method is unclear and debate its figures, while other observers consider its estimates often reliable.
