Key facts

  • Rayman Legends Retold includes a free Astro Bot costume that is exclusive to PlayStation 5.
  • Rayman Legends Retold launches on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro on December 3, 2026.
  • Ubisoft Milan, Ubisoft Montpellier, and Team Asobi collaborated on creating the Astro Bot costume.
  • Rayman appeared as a cameo in Astro Bot (2024), and the costume returns the crossover by placing Astro Bot's design inside Rayman's game.

The game Rayman Legends Retold launches on December 3, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro consoles, and it includes a free Astro Bot costume created by Ubisoft Milan, Ubisoft Montpellier and Team Asobi.@

The free outfit is exclusive to PlayStation 5, so it will not appear on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 or PC via Steam even though the game releases on those platforms too. On their first visit to the costume shop, players unlock the outfit, and Velour is the game’s tailor.

The costume continues a crossover that started when Rayman appeared in Astro Bot in 2024, a game Techgenyz said included characters from across gaming within the platforming adventure by Team Asobi. PlayStation Blog said it is now Rayman’s turn to take on the Captain of the Bots role after his cameo, and Techgenyz said the outfit gives that cameo a follow-up without turning the collaboration into a separate game mode or storyline.@

The design layers Astro Bot’s glossy and metallic finishes, glowing blue details and white materials over Rayman’s shape, keeping his large nose, missing limbs and big shoes. Techgenyz reported that Rayman’s floating hands and feet stay central to the design, along with his oversized shoes and expressive proportions.@

One of the biggest challenges was bringing Astro Bot’s sleek, futuristic aesthetic into Rayman’s universe, Quentin Chaillet said in a PlayStation Blog interview that appeared October 28, 2026. Chaillet is the lead character artist on Rayman Legends Retold, and Guillaume Arvieu serves as art and world director.@

In the PlayStation Blog interview that appeared October 28, 2026, Arvieu said Rayman and Astro Bot both offer rich fantasy settings, varied biomes, smooth movement and a creative spirit meant to spark joy and wonder. He noted Rayman’s history goes back to the original PlayStation, while Astro Bot speaks to a newer audience. He said the crossover connects generations of players.@

Arvieu described teamwork as a virtuous circle in which everyone contributes perspective, ideas and expertise. He said this lets players discover new encounters and enjoy seeing favorite characters together. He said working together lets creators honor other teams’ efforts, merge worlds they care about and build moments players might not otherwise picture. He called the crossover a nod to game history and an example of how the medium can reinvent itself.@

Arvieu said Astro Bot stands as a major platforming force with its own identity. He praised its generosity with worlds, scenarios and gameplay ideas.

Rayman Legends Retold offers new visuals and a retold story as a reimagining, and it supports solo play or local co-op for up to four players. A shadowy villain menaces the Glade of Dreams in the story. It sends Rayman and his friends through familiar worlds and a brand-new sixth realm.

The package includes four musical stages with voiced cinematics. It stands on its own, not part of the original Rayman Legends.

IGN calls Rayman Legends Retold an upcoming remake of an action-adventure platformer that Ubisoft developed. IGN also labels Astro Bot as a PlayStation mascot and a 2024 Game of the Year winner. VGTimes says the Steam page for Rayman Legends Retold is live.

The game brings together the reimagined platformer, new storyline, sixth realm, musical stages and local co-op in a single package, while the free costume stands apart as a PlayStation-only customization option. Techgenyz said the outfit becomes available when the game launches. Techgenyz said the outfit adds no new levels or changes to the game’s mechanics, and it does not alter the underlying platforming adventure.@
