Mina the Hollower launched May 29, 2026. Shacknews reported in June 2026 that the game sold more than 300,000 copies within three days of release. Eurogamer reported in October 2026 that sales passed 500,000 copies in the first two weeks. The studio said developers had once set a sales target of one million copies. Early sales put the game on course for that target after two weeks. Bloomberg covered the early sales after speaking with Yacht Club Games.
Yacht Club Games announced Mina the Hollower through a Kickstarter campaign in 2022, revealing it alongside initial demos. The studio said it had been developing the game for much of the last ten years. The project had been high stakes for Yacht Club. It was delayed from release last year, then launched at the end of May 2026.
Before Mina launched, Yacht Club Games called the game make-or-break for the studio. The company was in a precarious financial position after the global pandemic and a failed effort to run multiple projects at once. Strong sales allowed the studio to keep going without reducing staff or taking outside funding. The studio had previously described Mina as make-or-break for its survival.
Co-founder Nick Wozniac said during the October 2026 Reddit AMA that dividing the team across several projects was a mistake. He said a tight, focused team helped Mina succeed. Wozniac said sales keep Yacht Club Games afloat, and that chasing higher sales is not mainly about greed but about keeping the team together. He said the studio is doing okay and has learned lessons from the cycle. He expressed gratitude for where the studio ended up.
Yacht Club Games plans to keep its development team together instead of splitting work across multiple projects. Sean Velasco told Bloomberg in May 2026 that the studio learned from the Mina development cycle that splitting the team reduced productivity and focus. He said the studio would stick together regardless of what project they work on next.
Most of the studio’s developers are now working on a brand new 3D game, co-founder Alec Faulkner confirmed in the October 2026 Reddit AMA. Faulkner said the project will be soooooooo awesome but declined to name it or share details. He did not confirm whether the game is a Shovel Knight title. Bloomberg previously reported that the project was more than halfway complete before the team focused on Mina.
Sean Velasco told Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier in May 2026 that the unannounced 3D game might be a Shovel Knight title and had passed the halfway mark before the studio shifted to Mina the Hollower. The studio had previously told Bloomberg the project had passed the halfway point before the team moved to Mina. TweakTown reported in May 2026 that Yacht Club was focusing on new projects after Mina came out. Velasco said the game could be showable soon. No announcement about the project had been made by May 30, 2026.
Yacht Club Games is working on post-release features for Mina the Hollower but has announced no DLC. The studio said during the October 2026 Reddit AMA that it is not prepared to talk about DLC or spin-offs in the near future. The developers are not abandoning post-launch support for Mina the Hollower either.
Eurogamer gave Mina the Hollower a five-star review in October 2026, describing it as an adventure that draws inspiration from the greats. The review was published alongside coverage of the studio’s Reddit AMA. Shacknews scored the game a perfect 10 out of 10 in June 2026. Shacknews published the perfect score shortly after the game’s launch. Sean Velasco told Bloomberg in June 2026 that Mina earned the best reviews of 2026 but was not the fastest-selling title. He said he questioned why the best-reviewed game was not selling faster and felt motivated to close the gap.
Sean Velasco answered “yes… for now!” when asked whether Mina the Hollower had secured the company’s financial future during the October 2026 Reddit AMA. Velasco said strong early sales mean Yacht Club Games can “keep operating without making cuts or taking outside investment, at least for now.”
