Electronic Arts released 25 classic games from its back catalogue on Steam, GOG, and the EA App on November 5, 2026, as part of its Restored Classic Sale. The release makes many older titles playable on modern hardware.
Seven of the titles are Anniversary Edition restoration projects, and the remaining 18 are standard re-releases. RPG Site and ComicBook.com say the restored set includes Road Rash: 30th Anniversary Edition and Wing Commander: 35th Anniversary Edition, along with Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi: 35th Anniversary Edition, Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger: 30th Anniversary Edition, Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom: 30th Anniversary Edition, Wing Commander Prophecy: 30th Anniversary Edition, and Privateer 2: The Darkening: 30th Anniversary Edition.
Video Games Chronicle says seven restoration projects exist. Its list does not apply the Anniversary Edition label to Privateer 2: The Darkening, which RPG Site and ComicBook.com name as the seventh Anniversary Edition, and it lists Road Rash twice.
RPG Site and ComicBook.com report Anniversary Editions at $9.99 SRP each, other classic titles at $4.99 each, and special pricing on Steam and GOG running from November 5 to November 9, 2026. Video Games Chronicle reports all games are 50% off until November 19, with Ultima and Wing Commander bundles at 55% off.
Current owners of Wing Commander games on GOG or the EA App receive the Anniversary Edition upgrade at no cost on that platform. RPG Site says owners of the seven Road Rash and Wing Commander games on GOG can upgrade to the Anniversary Edition for free on that platform. EA frames the launch as a celebration of the community’s commitment to the franchise.
EA says the digitization process recovered supposedly lost Master FMV sequences for the seven Anniversary Edition titles and restored over 1,500 cinematic scenes across them. FMV, or full-motion video, is pre-recorded video playback used within games. The publisher says quality-of-life updates support modern systems, controls, and performance while making the titles more approachable without compromising authenticity, preserving each game’s original look, feel, and creative intent. EA says dedicated community members worked with the company to add their mods to the official Wing Commander releases and describes the improvements as made possible by the community.
IGN describes Wing Commander as best remembered for full-motion video cutscenes starring Mark Hamill, and says EA is bringing every Ultima and Wing Commander game to Steam and GOG with quality-of-life updates. The collection contains all Ultima role-playing games, both Crusader titles, Strike Commander, Theme Hospital, and several Wing Commander games. RPG Site says eleven classic Ultima games are included and that this is the first time the series is available on Steam.
ComicBook.com says Electronic Arts, established in 1982, primarily supports major tentpole series such as Battlefield, Madden, and EA FC, and notes many older franchises remain left untouched by EA nowadays. The restored-classic push marks a departure from the publisher’s recent focus on those franchises. Video Games Chronicle calls the release a rare bit of positive news from EA.
Video Games Chronicle says fans have long been frustrated by EA sitting on older games, and that many titles in the release are playable on modern hardware for the first time. The outlet reports EA’s recent social media posts drew an overwhelmingly negative response, especially from those seeking to save Mass Effect after BioWare’s closure, and says the restoration push is unlikely to appease those currently campaigning against the company. Electronic Arts’ own post reads: “Get Restored and Classic EA titles now:”
