  • Organizers planned for the truck to circle EA's headquarters in Redwood City for four hours on November 6, 2026.

We are Mass Effect, the fan group behind the truck protest, drove a mobile billboard truck carrying the #SaveMassEffect slogan past EA and EA Sports headquarters in Redwood City, California on November 6, 2026.

The group scheduled the truck to circle EA’s headquarters for four hours on November 6, and its signage carried a QR code and the SaveMassEffect.com address. Member Mer told IGN the goal is spreading the word and winning as much attention for the movement as possible. The group said it took the protest into the physical world since studio closures feel distant on social media, and it wants to show that real people felt the impact of BioWare’s closure and the next Mass Effect game’s cancellation.

The demonstration came ahead of N7 Day, the annual Mass Effect celebration linked to Commander Shepard’s N7 rank, which falls on November 7, 2026. This marks the first N7 Day since Electronic Arts announced on October 21, 2026, that it was shutting BioWare down. EA shut down BioWare, doing so several weeks before November 6, 2026, and canceled the next Mass Effect game.

A Change.org petition pressing EA to keep the Mass Effect franchise going in some form had passed 300,000 signatures by November 6, 2026. It has grown alongside the truck protest, and the N7 Day merchandise backlash has fed it too. Mer told IGN that parking the truck on EA’s front lawn is its own message to the company, after the publisher paused Mass Effect and shut BioWare down.

Key figures, Petition signatures supporting BioWare's independence. Change.org petition signatures: 300,000; Canadian e-petition signatures: 3,900; Signatures required for certification: 500.

The Canadian e-petition e-7898 asks the government to give BioWare funding to become independent of Electronic Arts and operate as an independent Canadian company. Brendan Routh of Burnaby, B.C. started it, and NDP MP Don Davies sponsored it. It became available on November 4, 2026, and had reached 3,900 validated signatures by November 6, 2026. Only Canadian citizens and residents may sign it.

The e-7898 petition stays open until March 4, 2027. Once it closes, the Clerk validates signatures, and certification requires at least 500 valid names before the government must respond within 45 calendar days. The government does not have to respond before spring 2027, and the rules do not require the answer to be yes. Davies wrote on X on November 6, 2026, that the studio’s developers deserve the first chance to buy BioWare with federal backing and run it on their own.

The petitions cannot compel EA to sell, since the publisher still holds BioWare and its intellectual property, and any transaction would need EA’s consent. GameFragger found no EA response to the truck protest or to e-7898, and the NDP is not the governing party.

The group is finishing a video for November 7, 2026, that will feature fans, actors and contributors, including Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, the actors behind Commander Shepard. N7 Play Day is also planned, intended to boost concurrent Steam players for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition around that time. It also plans to take N7-colored cupcakes to EA’s Redwood City headquarters during the week after November 6, 2026. The group said the effort is not ending anytime soon, pointing to the strong community response surrounding Mass Effect and BioWare’s legacy.

Plans call for a second truck on November 7, 2026, near BioWare’s former offices, while a final billboard will circle The Game Awards ceremony next month for roughly four hours. Elizabeth told IGN she has no current plans to pay for more billboards, calling the current effort exhausting.

Reportedly, Save Mass Effect graffiti appeared as spray paint outside an EA office in Madrid, while another location received tombstones bearing the names of shuttered studios. The group said the anger extends beyond BioWare to the many studios, intellectual properties and developers that have seen similar closures. Softonic reports that the backlash hit on November 7, 2026, after BioWare Gear Store accounts pushed Mass Effect merchandise using the slogan Celebrate the Legacy, coming weeks after EA closed the studio and canceled the game.

Word of a new documentary about BioWare’s final years came on November 5, 2026. In October, BioWare veteran Mark Darrah said the studio’s closure might lead EA to sell those intellectual properties or otherwise keep them off the market. Softonic reports that the shutdown followed poor notices for Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, financial pressure after a debt-heavy Saudi-led purchase, and an internal view that Star Wars: Battlefront was the safer option.
