Sony announced the free Saros Zenith update at its State of Play on September 3, 2026; the update launched on October 19, 2026, with a $20 PlayStation Store discount running through October 22, 2026.

The Zenith update adds Overlord Rush, a boss rush mode where players fight Overlord enemies in rapid succession. Overlord Rush offers three distinct sets for players to choose from.

Incursion and Ascension each contain three Overlords, while Totality includes all eight Overlords. These sets let players decide how many bosses they face consecutively, with Totality presenting the greatest challenge.

Eclipse Layers is a New Game Plus mode unlocked after completing the main game. Each successive layer requires more Trial Modifiers to progress. Completing layers grants Arjun a crown and golden armor that become more elaborate as players earn additional Trial modifiers.

The update introduces 20 new Carcosan Modifiers, divided equally into Protection and Trial types. Ten Protection modifiers are available from the start of the base game. The remaining ten Trial modifiers remain locked until players advance into Eclipse Layers. Examples of new Protection modifiers are Second Chance Overlord, Overlord Restoration, Damage Enhancement, and Corruption Reduction.

Examples of new Trial modifiers include Alpha Hostile Enhancement, Hostile Regeneration, and Damage Degradation. These modifiers adjust gameplay by either boosting player abilities or strengthening enemies.

New accessibility settings added with the Zenith update are Motion Sensor Aiming, High Contrast Display, Slow Game Speed, and Weapon Auto‐fire. These options let players tailor the experience to their needs, such as reducing reaction‐time pressure or improving visual clarity, without altering the core challenge.

The Zenith update added six new trophies to Saros. Players can earn trophies by playing Overlord Rush, progressing through Eclipse Layers, or using specific new Carcosan Modifiers. The trophy set rewards engagement with the competitive mode, New Game+ progression, and experimentation with the modifier system.

New Photomode options let players adjust Arjun’s facial expression for screenshots. Players can also toggle Power Weapon visuals on or off within Photomode. These additions give greater creative control over in‐game photography without altering core gameplay.

Balance updates in the Zenith update introduced new Artifact Corruption Effects. The Zenith update increased the maximum artifact tier, allowing higher‑level upgrades. The Zenith update adjusted drop conditions for locked yellow containers to refine loot frequency. The Zenith update revised Growth Attributes granted by artifacts to change how character upgrades scale.

Alinea Analytics reported that Saros sold roughly 300,000 copies through May 2026. This figure represented about 30% of the game’s development budget. The same analytics firm noted 300,000 copies sold in the game’s first two weeks after launch.

Housemarque co‐founder and managing director Ilari Kuittinen retired shortly after Saros’s release. The departure of a senior leader followed the game’s launch, marking a change in the studio’s leadership.

Saros launched on April 30, 2026, at a price of $69.99. The game remains exclusive to the PlayStation 5 platform. Housemarque expects the Zenith update’s new features and modes to appeal to both hardcore and casual players.
