Tenebris Somnia launched on Oct. 16, 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, with the release announced by publisher New Blood Interactive and developer Saibot Studios and physical editions planned for Q1 2027 via Lost in Cult.

Tenebris Somnia is a 2D retro survival horror adventure game inspired by classics such as Silent Hill and Resident Evil. The game features pixel‑art environments reminiscent of the 8‑bit and 16‑bit era, with puzzle‑solving, exploration, and combat against horrible creatures.

Tenebris Somnia is published by New Blood Interactive and developed by Saibot Studios. The collaboration includes Andrés Borghi as a key creative figure.

The game incorporates live‑action cutscenes created by an award‑winning film crew from Argentina, using real actors, practical effects and no generative AI. These cutscenes appear at key moments, shifting from 2D pixel art to live‑action to reveal secrets and advance the narrative. The live‑action sequences feature Clara Kovacic as Julia, Pedro Merlo as Iván, Maria Eugenia Rigon as Vitria and Andrés Borghi as Obscuratus. Andrés Borghi also served as writer, editor and director of the live‑action pieces while working as a developer with Saibot Studios.

The narrative centers on Julia, who visits her ex‑boyfriend’s apartment after experiencing recurring nightmares, confronting creatures and solving puzzles. The story explores whether the nightmares are real, blending psychological horror with survival gameplay.

Combat is straightforward: players can aim and either swing a melee weapon or fire a gun, but ammunition is scarce, encouraging evasion. Players learn enemy patterns and use sprinting to avoid attacks, saving ammunition for later encounters. The team balances puzzles so they are neither too easy nor too difficult, prompting players to explore environments, collect clues and keep mental notes. The puzzles integrate with the game’s exploration and survival mechanics.

Development of Tenebris Somnia began in 2022, and the team released a playable demo on Steam in 2023. The long development allowed the team to refine the blend of pixel‑art and live‑action cinematics.

Tenebris Somnia has earned recognition in the indie horror scene, winning Winner at Unreal Argentina 2024 and Best Game at EVA 2023. It was an Official Selection at the Latin American Games Showcase in 2024, 2025 and 2026, and featured at Day of the Devs 2026. The title has also been exhibited at Penny Arcade Expo, Gamescom LATAM and BitSummit PUNCH in Kyoto, helping to build anticipation ahead of launch.

Physical pre‑orders for Tenebris Somnia are currently available through Lost In Cult, with shipments expected in the first quarter of 2027. The game is presently available in digital form, with the physical release scheduled to follow after the initial launch.

Tenebris Somnia is available on Steam, including support for the Steam Deck. This expands the game’s reach to handheld PC players. At launch, Tenebris Somnia supports English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Japanese. This language support was confirmed by the publisher.

The developers have stated that they plan to announce the official release date at the Summer Game Fest event in Los Angeles. The announcement marks the next stop after the game’s previous showcase appearances.

In a VICE article published October 16, 2026, the crew behind Tenebris Somnia cited classic horror franchises such as Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Clock Tower as key influences on the game’s design and atmosphere. The developers explained that these classic horror franchises directly shaped the team’s creative approach to the game.
