Guides published in October 2026 explain how players can unlock the transmog (Tailoring) system in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. The process requires speaking to Jiera, then to scholar Ryatt or Polyeidus, defeating the ice wyrm Fimbl at Lake Norgan, obtaining the Taillour‑Crafte Treatise, and receiving the Tailor Equipment option from Hal.

To begin the ‘Reaching the Far Shore’ quest, players must first talk to Jiera in the Norgan Settlement and then speak to scholar Ryatt or Polyeidus to learn about using the ice wyrm Fimbl to freeze Lake Norgan for crossing. Players must weaken Fimbl enough that it retreats to Lake Norgan, where they must defeat it.

Players must weaken Fimbl enough that it retreats to Lake Norgan. Once there, players must defeat it using ballistas or ranged attacks, with the Archer vocation recommended because the dragon stays in the middle of the lake.

After defeating Fimbl, players must rest at an inn for a period of time for the lake to freeze around its corpse; sources differ on the required rest duration (one day versus a couple of in‑game days). Once the lake freezes, they can cross to the cavern on the southern shore of Lake Norgan and loot a chest containing the Taillour‑Crafte Treatise.

Returning the treatise to Jiera leads her to instruct the player to give it to Hal, the village blacksmith. When Hal receives the Taillour‑Crafte Treatise, he gains the ability to tailor equipment, unlocking the ‘Tailor Equipment’ dialogue option.

Using Tailor Equipment, players can change the appearance of equipped or inventory weapons, shields, helmets (excluding masks/glasses), chestpieces, and leg armor while preserving the original stats and special properties; players cannot alter cloaks. players draw the appearance options from any armor or weapon appearances collected, including distinctive outfits such as the corset. Video Games Chronicle notes that the transmog fee rarely exceeds 3,000 gold. Gamer Social Club notes that the fee is small and includes an 80% discount if the player already owns the source item.

The transmog feature only applies to gear obtained as relics or spoils from the Norgan continent (Dark Arisen DLC). Players cannot alter equipment from the base game using the Tailor Equipment option.
