Aspyr has not revealed a launch date for Shrek 2 Remastered, according to reports from Nintendo Life, Gematsu, ComingSoon.net, KeenGamer, and Kotaku.
The title is set to be unveiled at the ID@Xbox Showcase on Oct. 20, 2026. An Xbox Store page shows that the remaster will run on Xbox Series X|S hardware.
The game supports solo play or cooperative sessions with up to three friends. It includes local couch co‑op, online multiplayer, and modes that combine both. A Photo Mode has been added that lets you take pictures while playing. A Cheat Mode provides access to cheat codes for the game.
The remaster features updated cutscenes. Shrek 2 first appeared in 2004 on systems such as the GameCube and Game Boy Advance.
The remaster draws inspiration from the DreamWorks Animation film Shrek 2, which also came out in 2004. Aspyr has earlier experience porting Lord of the Rings and Middle‑earth titles to Nintendo systems.
Shrek 5, which stars Zendaya, is planned for theatrical release about a year after the Shrek 2 Remastered is announced. A trailer for the Shrek 2 Remastered has been leaked online.
