Ubisoft will release Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced title update 1.0.8 on October 27, 2026, as the game’s final major content update.

The remake launched July 9, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Hitmarker reported first-day sales of two million copies. By July 16, 2026, the game had sold more than two million copies within one week of release. Update 1.0.4 was the first major update, launching that same day for PS5, Xbox, and PC with only bug fixes.

Update 1.0.6 followed on August 4, 2026. It lets players hide the blow pipe on Edward’s back. It raises autosaves from five to ten. That August update fixed PC cutscenes locked at 30 FPS under custom graphics settings, added the missing Throw Money tutorial, stopped DLC Pack notifications at new game start, and fixed minor crashes in ground and naval fights.

Title update 1.0.8 adds Nightmare Mode, a harder survival setting where foes respond more quickly, strike harder, and punish hesitation. The patch disables the one-shot kill safety in Nightmare Mode, permitting instant death even when the player still has substantial health remaining. Nightmare Mode changes stealth, so detection time falls sharply.

Investigation time lasts longer. Foes hear the player moving quicker than a walk. Edward must stay at least 6m above an enemy to hide instead of 4m. The mode also raises all ship damage, increases underwater shark damage, doubles urchin and jellyfish damage, depletes the oxygen meter faster, and increases harpooning wildlife damage.

The update restores takedown animations from the original title. Those cover hidden blade, unarmed, single sword, and gunblade finishing moves. New Game+ lets players begin a new save file while retaining tools gathered from a previous completed playthrough. It supports up to New Game+++++, or five repeat playthroughs, with difficulty increasing each time.

It lets players keep Edward’s tools, upgrades, unlocked weapons, trinkets, Jackdaw upgrades, officer abilities, pets, money, materials, and trade goods. It preserves unlocked customizable outfits and options, hideout progression, perks, art collection, all Kenway fleet ships, codex items including treasure maps, and items purchased from the store. Officers must be recruited again, forts must be retaken because map fog resets, and quest-related items are removed in New Game+.

New Game+ introduces Escudos, a currency gained by completing challenges and looting old chests. Players can trade Reales for Escudos at the General Store for exclusive goods. The patch adds new Easter Eggs, community-inspired trinkets, new outfits, sails, and pet cat skins. Hidden community chests with special community-requested rewards are included, designed to be more challenging with no easy hints.

Game director Richard Knight said in July 2026 that New Game+ was in production and rewards for replaying were still under discussion, per Hitmarker. The official Assassin’s Creed social account said on October 22, 2026 that New Game+ would arrive the following week.

IGN rated Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced 9 out of 10 and called it more than a visual upgrade that brings a top series game to current standards. A post-launch update in July 2026 quietly removed at least one occurrence of the Kassandra Pose from the game. Ubisoft may continue releasing smaller quality-of-life fixes after the final major update if the opportunity arises, according to IGN. Head of Content Jean Guesdon was set to provide another look at what lies ahead for Assassin’s Creed on Thursday after the update.
