Capcom reaffirmed October 27, 2026, in a financial report that it plans its Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake for 2027, with no quarter or exact date given.

The first time in months Capcom addressed the remake’s release timing. The report said the remake remained on track without adding major new details. Capcom revealed the title at Summer Game Fest in June 2026.

Industry reports and partner briefings at the time described an internal Q1 2027 target and placed the expected shipping period between January and June 2027.

The Summer Game Fest cinematic trailer showed Claire Redfield searching for clues in her brother Chris’ apartment. Viewers discovered the first-person perspective in the trailer did not reflect playable builds. At the Summer Game Fest reveal, the trailer did not include a specific release date or information.

Capcom is developing the remake for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. It is a big-budget project featuring modernized gameplay, a reimagined storyline, and newly detailed graphics.

Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said the remake uses a third-person view and a survival horror approach focused on resource management, like Resident Evil 2, and reshuffles the original story to connect to later entries in the series. Newly detailed graphics accompany a story in which Claire Redfield searches for Chris at Rockfort Island, and the remake’s publicly announced direction already included significant departures from the 2000 original.

The 2027 lineup also includes Mega Man: Dual Override and Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance alongside the Veronica remake. Mega Man: Dual Override is targeted for spring 2027, while Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is listed only for 2027. Resident Evil Requiem launched on February 27, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, ahead of the Veronica remake. Resident Evil: Code: Veronica originally came out in 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast, and Capcom expects a new Resident Evil Zero remake to follow the Veronica project, pushing its remake roadmap into 2028.

Analysts and reporters say an early 2027 launch would give Capcom a main Resident Evil title in back-to-back years. For recent Resident Evil releases, Capcom has prioritized current-generation consoles and PC for higher-fidelity visuals and advanced lighting.

Insider Dusk Golem said September 21, 2026, that he saw a high chance of the remake moving internally to fall 2027, based on three sources and late scope changes.

He said the alleged shift was not guaranteed and that he had heard it from three sources he trusts. He had not independently confirmed the information to the degree he normally would.

Dusk Golem did not say which specific mechanics, environments, characters, or story sections the alleged late development changes might affect. He noted that Capcom was making late changes to the game and guessed that the scope and time required were uncertain.

Capcom skipped Tokyo Game Show 2026 for the remake, instead showcasing Switch 2 ports of Resident Evil 2 and 3. Many followers hoped the remake would resurface at Tokyo Game Show 2026, and Dusk Golem thinks an early 2027 launch would probably mean marketing had already picked up. Reaction on Reddit and Twitter to the possible fall 2027 shift was mixed but mostly patient. Capcom had not shown substantial gameplay footage for the remake by September 21, 2026.

Dusk Golem said in January 2026, the remake was aiming for early 2027. NateTheHate saw the first half of 2027 as the target window.

Earlier reports had put the remake more likely in the first half of 2027, while Resident Evil Requiem’s DLC was planned for the back half. A fall 2027 launch would make it the first major Resident Evil entry in the final months of a year since Resident Evil 6 in 2012. Capcom committed only to a 2027 release, so launching in the final months of next year would still honor that promise.

Capcom has not said whether a delay to the remake would impact Resident Evil Requiem’s story DLC. It has not shared a broad launch window for that DLC or described what the Requiem expansion will focus on.

On October 15, 2026, Dusk Golem said a story DLC for the Veronica remake and one for Resident Evil Requiem had been greenlit earlier in 2026 as temporary gap-fillers, each offering a few hours of content. Each is expected to run for a few hours. Earlier in 2026, a RE9 DLC and a future Veronica DLC were approved as a temporary measure to address fan gaps and RE9 feedback, though Capcom has not officially confirmed these plans.

Capcom currently has no spin-off side stories in the Resident Evil pipeline. Dusk Golem also posted a thread on X about the future of the Resident Evil franchise. More than 2 million players have wishlisted the remake ahead of its expected 2027 launch.

Industry watchers see the December 10, 2026 Game Awards as the next likely venue for Capcom to show more of the remake.
