Sony Interactive Entertainment and Oh BiBi announced on the game’s official website on November 6, 2026 that they had canceled Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble and ended development. Oh Bibi Studios made the shutdown announcement on the game’s official website on Friday, November 6, 2026.sources

The mobile-only game was a free-to-play multiplayer hero shooter — free to download and play, with players choosing characters with distinct abilities — for iOS and Android, offering arena shooter-style action with characters from the series. Oh BiBi developed it in collaboration with Insomniac Games, and Sony Interactive Entertainment published it under the PlayStation Studios label. The title was announced in November 2025 and never received an official global release, remaining in soft launch — a limited release in chosen regions before a global launch — in select regions.sources

It soft-launched in the Philippines and Indonesia alongside the November 2025 announcement, then reached Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark in December 2025. Canada followed in May 2026, the United Kingdom in August 2026, and Yahoo Tech reported the game also appeared in France and parts of Asia. PlayStation started pre-registration — signing up to be notified or invited at launch — for the game on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store on July 15, 2026, and in July 2026 the PlayStation blog said the game was preparing for global launch after testing shaped by player feedback.sources

Game Rant reported that players who pre-registered were gradually invited to play based on region over the last few months before cancellation, replacing a traditional global launch. Earlier in 2026, a post in the game’s Discord announced that the game would not launch globally on October 5 as planned.sources

The delay came after the game’s reveal a year earlier, when fans learned PlayStation was delivering a mobile exclusive rather than a traditional new entry. Kotaku reported that fans had been asking for a new game but were disappointed it was limited to mobile.sources

The final planned update arrived on November 6, 2026, and Oh BiBi said no further updates are planned, with the FAQ stating there are no planned updates after November 7, 2026. It will leave the Apple App Store and Google Play on November 21, 2026, though players who already installed it can continue playing until May 1, 2027. The servers will close permanently on May 1, 2027, rendering the online-only title unplayable. In-app purchases were removed on November 6, 2026.sources

All playable characters, game modes, and other content will remain available until the May 1, 2027 closure. Qwark Pass seasons, the game’s seasonal pass content, remain available until that date, and the Super Pass, the game’s paid pass tier, is now free. The final update will distribute pre-registration rewards, and players can find them in their in-game inboxes. The announcement advised players to use any in-game rewards or currency before the game shuts down, and players have until May 1, 2027, to claim and use any outstanding rewards.sources

Refund requests go to Apple’s App Store or Google Play customer support, and when service ends on May 1, 2027, the servers will wipe all player data. Players can contact support to delete their data ahead of that date if they wish. Players cannot carry progress, purchases, and unlocked items over to another game. The shutdown affects only Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble and has no impact on other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services.sources

Oh BiBi did not cite a reason for the shutdown. The developer described the move as a difficult decision and thanked its community for support. Oh BiBi said, “We’ve made the difficult decision to cease development of Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble.”

The most recent mainline Ratchet & Clank game launched on PlayStation 5 in June 2021. A ransomware attack on Insomniac Games in November 2023 leaked details of a new Ratchet & Clank game, and a September 2024 leak suggested Insomniac may have canceled the rumored project. Leaks have also asserted that Insomniac is planning to release a wholly new Ratchet & Clank game in the future, likely on PS6, though internal plans may have changed.sources
