Woot is selling the original The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch Pro Controller for $55.99 on Oct. 30, 2026, using coupon code SAVETOBER for 20% off during its early Black Friday video game sale. Shoppers enter the coupon code at checkout to receive the discount.

IGN and Undercode News report that Nintendo’s Switch 2 console works with the original Switch Pro Controller, so the older pad remains usable for current Switch owners after the newer system arrives. Undercode News states the original connects wirelessly to the Switch 2 console, and lists wireless connectivity as the first technical check for Switch 2 owners, saying the older controller remains practical for those who do not need the newer model’s extra functions. The outlet says the older model delivers reliable wireless connectivity, responsive controls, and impressive battery life. It adds that the original cannot wake the Switch 2 from sleep, so users must press the power button or use another supported method, while the Switch 2 Pro Controller can wake the console.

Undercode News says the discounted $55.99 price equals a 20% reduction from approximately $69.99, which saves about $14. The outlet also states that at $55.99 the saving is approximately $30 compared with the newer Switch 2 Pro Controller’s standard price of $89.99, while its fact-checker labels this as approximate. It frames the $100 Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Pro Controller as targeting collectors and dedicated Zelda enthusiasts. The outlet adds that the limited-edition controller does not automatically make the older Tears of the Kingdom controller obsolete.

Bar chart, Price comparison of Nintendo Switch Pro controllers. Zelda Pro (sale): $55.99; Original Pro (standard): $69.99; Switch 2 Pro: $89.99; Ocarina of Time Pro: $100.

IGN reports that buyers save $30 by choosing the original controller instead of the recently announced $100 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Pro controller. The outlet identifies Eric Song as its commerce manager responsible for finding top gaming and tech deals daily. IGN said, “The recently announced The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 Pro controller looks amazing, but it’s $100.” The outlet frames the $30 saving against the $100 Ocarina of Time controller and says buyers who skip the newer features still receive an officially licensed Zelda controller.

IGN and Undercode News report that the Switch 2 Pro Controller adds two rear paddle switches, a GameChat button (Nintendo’s voice-chat feature), and a headphone jack that the original Switch Pro Controller lacks. IGN lists the rear paddle switches, GameChat button, and headphone jack as items found only on the newer model, while Undercode News describes them as programmable rear buttons, direct GameChat access, and a built-in headphone connection. IGN states the original cannot wake the Switch 2 console, while Undercode News lists console wake as a capability of the Switch 2 Pro Controller that the older model lacks. The two controllers look nearly identical cosmetically and share the same high build quality and heavy feel that separate them from most third-party options, with Undercode News calling them similar with solid construction and a premium feel, and the original supports HD rumble with haptic feedback while the new Switch 2 Pro Controller uses upgraded HD Rumble 2 instead, a change the outlet says replaces the older controller’s rumble technology.

Undercode News states a software update cannot add the Switch 2 Pro Controller’s added physical controls and connectivity to the original controller. The outlet advises buyers to check Woot’s shipping costs, regional availability, and return conditions before ordering the controller, presenting this as a key step for anyone buying through Woot’s early Black Friday video game sale. It argues the original controller’s core traits matter more than extra rear buttons for players who mainly enjoy single-player adventures, platformers, RPGs, and traditional Nintendo games.

On Oct. 29, 2026, Nintendo’s store listed a Switch 2 Pro Controller with a Zelda 40th Anniversary theme that includes decorated artwork drawn from the Legend of Zelda series and a stand showing a map of Hyrule. Nintendo America’s store page describes this as exclusive hardware with a custom display stand showing a map of Hyrule.
