Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 launches on PC, Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 in summer 2027

Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 will launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 in summer 2027, on the 20-year anniversary of the original 2007 game, with developer Sting and publishers Compile Heart and Idea Factory International behind it.

No PlayStation or Xbox versions of Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 have been announced, making it effectively a Nintendo console exclusive. The publisher has not ruled out future releases of the sequel on platforms beyond Nintendo consoles. The 2023 remake Dokapon Kingdom: Connect was a Nintendo Switch console exclusive and was never released on PlayStation or Xbox.

The original Dokapon Kingdom was a PlayStation 2-exclusive RPG released in 2007. Sting Entertainment developed it, and Atlus published it. Metacritic gave the original a media score of 61, and the game was not a commercial hit.

The series traces back to the 1994 Super Famicom title Dokapon 3-2-1, also called Dokapon 3 2 1 – Arashi o Yobu Yuujou. The sequel continues a franchise lineage spanning more than thirty years and multiple platforms, including the 1994 game, the 2007 PS2 version, the Wii version, and the 2023 Switch remake. Compile Heart remade Dokapon Kingdom for the Nintendo Switch as Dokapon Kingdom: Connect.

Dokapon Kingdom: Connect earned a Metacritic media score of 63. On Steam, the remake holds an 86 percent approval rating across nearly 1,000 user reviews. Consumer reception was far more positive than critical reception for both Dokapon Kingdom and its 2023 remake.

Surprisingly, the original received a modern remake in 2023. The Nintendo eShop does not have user reviews, while Steam does. ComicBook.com described the original PlayStation 2 game as not good. The sequel follows a 2007 original and a 2023 remake that built a following across many platforms.

The team describes Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 as a tabletop party game wrapped in a role-playing adventure, with one fortunate turn able to swing the advantage and leave rivals furious. The sequel will include more character customization options and massive cooperative battles with rewards players can share or hoard.

It also adds an all-new mode where all players begin at a high level with powerful equipment. Fans and newcomers can view an announcement trailer. Details on the physical and digital release will come later.

Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 will feature a simultaneous worldwide launch in 2027, though no specific release date has been announced. ComicBook.com presumes the sequel will cost $49.99, matching the 2023 remake, though no price has been announced. 3Dm International said analyses suggest player feedback and the series’ niche audience may have contributed to greenlighting the sequel, though this is not an official publisher reason.

Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 will debut at Thailand Game Show 2026 from Thursday, October 29 through Sunday, November 1, 2026, at a booth in the Japan Pavilion. Attendees at the booth can play the original Dokapon Kingdom: Connect and receive a giveaway pin badge while supplies last.
