Gentle Mates GC beats Shopify Rebellion Gold to reach Game Changers grand final

Gentle Mates GC defeated Shopify Rebellion Gold 2-1 in the upper bracket final on Oct. 30, 2026, at Riot Games Arena São Paulo. The victory sends Gentle Mates GC to the grand final on Nov. 1, 2026, with a two-map ban advantage, while Shopify Rebellion Gold falls to the lower bracket final against KRÜ Blaze.

The VCT Game Changers Championship 2026 featured ten teams competing in a double-elimination bracket. The lower bracket final and grand final are best-of-five series, while earlier rounds were best-of-three. A team is eliminated after two losses.

The prize pool awards $50,000 for fourth place, $25,000 for joint fifth-sixth, and $70,000 for third place. The event is the last standalone Game Changers Championship; starting in 2027, Austin, Texas hosts it alongside VALORANT Champions from Sept. 16 to Oct. 10, 2027.

Gentle Mates GC is making its first appearance at the Game Changers Championship, having qualified as the top EMEA seed on circuit points. The French roster includes Marti, Nami, Wens, tokameite, and berryx, although some sources list safiaa in place of tokameite. The team won matches in EMEA Stage 3. The team reached the upper final with 2-0 wins over Team Liquid Brazil and MIBR GC.

The upper final was a closely contested series. Shopify Rebellion Gold won the first map, but Gentle Mates GC took the next two maps 13-11 and 13-10. Map one lasted 53 minutes, map two 55 minutes, and map three 57 minutes. Both teams arrived at the match having won every map they played at the event.

Shopify Rebellion Gold, led by interim in-game leader alexis, swept SK Nebula 2-0 in the upper quarterfinals and KRÜ Blaze 2-0 in the semifinals to reach the upper final. The team is chasing a third GCC title.

KRÜ Blaze will face Shopify Rebellion Gold in the lower bracket final on Oct. 31, 2026, at 15:00 BRT. The match is a best-of-five series and a rematch of the upper semifinal. KRÜ Blaze reached the lower final after eliminating defending champions Team Liquid Brazil Visa 2-0 in the lower quarterfinals and beating MIBR GC 2-0 in the lower semifinal on Oct. 30. The lower bracket final will determine the second grand final participant.

MIBR GC advanced to the Championship through the VCT Game Changers Americas Last Chance Qualifier 2026, where they defeated Akave Esports Black and FlyQuest RED 3-2. In the upper bracket, they beat FENNEL Female and G2 Gozen 2-0 before losing to Gentle Mates GC. These victories secured their Championship berth. They were later eliminated by KRÜ Blaze 2-0 in the lower semifinal, finishing fourth and earning $50,000.

SK Nebula, featuring Joliinaa, rezq, fluxxy, Liza, and Thuy, placed joint fifth-sixth and received $25,000. The team lost 2-1 to Gentle Mates GC and 3-2 to G2 Gozen at EMEA Stage 3, and were eliminated by MIBR GC 2-0 in the lower bracket quarterfinal on Oct. 28. SK Nebula’s tournament ended with four maps won and four lost.

Nova Esports GC and Gen.G GC were the first teams eliminated, with Nova Esports GC losing to Team Liquid Brazil Visa in lower round 1 and Gen.G GC falling to KRÜ Blaze 2-1 in the upper quarterfinals. Team Liquid Brazil Visa and SK Nebula finished fifth-sixth, while FENNEL GC lost to SK Nebula in lower round 2.

The grand final will be a best-of-five series starting at 15:00 BRT on Nov. 1, 2026, at Riot Games Arena São Paulo. A best-of-five series requires three map wins to claim the title. The winner claims the VCT Game Changers Championship 2026 title. A Game Changers Fan Fest runs through Nov. 1 at Community Creators Academy in São Paulo, with tickets priced at R$30 per day.

Watching at least 30 minutes of the grand final earns the “Mais Que Amigas” spray Drop. According to the Elo power rankings, Gentle Mates GC sits fourth with a rating of 1844 and a 33-7 record, while Shopify Rebellion Gold is sixth with a rating of 1809 and a 40-20 record.
