Atari Hotels has broken ground on its first hotel in Phoenix, Arizona, with construction planned to complete between late 2028 and early 2029, the company announced Oct. 29, 2026. A Business Wire release dated Oct. 29, 2026, distributed the announcement.
The property sits on a 46,124-square-foot parcel in Phoenix’s Roosevelt Row at the intersection of Roosevelt Street and Central Avenue. The land once housed KOY and other Phoenix radio stations and sold in 2023. Over the past five years, the development team changed, with Intersection Development now supervising the Phoenix hotel.
Intersection Development is powering and developing the project, with Jordan Taylor serving as a partner at the firm. räkkhaus is designing the property, an architecture studio, under an exclusive license from Atari. The property marks Atari Hotels’ first venue and represents the company’s entry into hospitality. IGN reported the construction start in a press release shared with the outlet.
IGN described räkkhaus as an avant-garde architecture studio.
The company announced Atari Hotels in January 2020, when it also revealed plans for hotels in Las Vegas, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Seattle and Austin. Phoenix New Times says the project was first announced in 2020 after Atari signed a licensing deal.
The design draws from 1970s and 1980s retro-futuristic aesthetics. Early concept art from October 2020 showed a Cyberpunk exterior shaped like the Atari logo, though newer images present a different picture more suited to the current era. Phoenix New Times says renderings depict brightly lit, colorful spaces with artwork inspired by Atari’s early era.
The $124 million development will cover 118,000 square feet across 11 stories. About 84,000 square feet will host immersive gaming experiences built around augmented and virtual reality, technology that layers digital images over a real-world view or creates entirely digital environments. Notebookcheck says the Arizona chain encompasses nearly an acre of land.
The hotel will include an esports and concert venue with capacity for more than 2,000 attendees. It will also feature high-tech guest rooms, VIP suites and creator studios for content developers. Phoenix New Times describes a mix of high-tech rooms and VIP suites at the Roosevelt Row property.

Construction will begin with Phase One, which calls for demolishing the existing building on the property and laying the new hotel’s foundation. Phase Two will follow shortly after. A Regulation A Tier Two equity offering is raising between $35 million and $40 million for construction.
This is a public securities offering that lets non-accredited investors buy shares, and investments begin at $500. Phoenix New Times says developers announced the public investment offering on Wednesday to speed development. Atari has secured $14 million in capital and finished land acquisition, though it remains well below the $124 million project budget.
Investor rewards include loyalty program inclusion, a personalized digital certificate and VIP event access. Higher tiers add virtual Q&A sessions, VIP galas, exclusive merchandise and presale tickets. Taylor said the equity offering lets supporters help create the hotel.
Henry Cejudo, an American professional wrestler, and FaZe Adapt serve as celebrity investors and supporters for the project. IGN lists FaZe Adapt and American professional wrestler Henry Cejudo as partners and celebrity investors. Hotel News Resource names Henry Cejudo and Adapt among celebrity investors and supporters. Wade Rosen, chair and CEO of Atari, said the hotel places the Atari brand at the center of a new entertainment experience for fans, visitors and local residents.
Jordan Taylor said, “Atari Hotels was born from the idea that hospitality could be as interactive as gaming itself.” Taylor also described the project as an immersive gaming hotel and the first of its kind in the western hemisphere.
IGN described the property as potentially the United States’ next premier esports venue. Reporting in December 2025 projected a mid-to-late 2028 opening after construction starts in 2026. Phoenix New Times described a mid-to-late 2028 target once construction begins, and Notebookcheck said construction was expected to begin in 2026 with the hotel hoping to open by late 2028. Coverage in October 2026 set completion for late 2028 to early 2029.
