Torn Banner Studios released update 1.2 Camp Blood for No More Room In Hell 2 on Oct. 20, 2026, ahead of Halloween and the game’s second anniversary, adding the Ruby Lake map and Responder Retirement progression system. The studio called the update the first major wave of new content since the 1.0 release.
Ruby Lake takes place on the outskirts of Warren County, New Jersey, drawing inspiration from campsite slasher films of the 1980s. Ruby Lake is the first new map since the 1.0 launch and supports Survival mode, where Responders extract citizens while avoiding zombies in abandoned facilities. The CRC assists the National Guard in extracting civilians from the wider Ruby Lake area, with zombies goaded into vacant facilities as a distraction.
Responder Retirement opens to any Responder who reaches Level 100. Retiring a character frees their roster slot, advances Distinguished Service Rank, and grants future Responders one extra starting level, up to 29 bonus levels, meaning a new character can begin at Level 30. Players cannot play a retired Responder again. Distinguished Service experience comes only from retired Responders, and the system offers 20 levels in this update, with more planned later; the first major unlock is an extra loadout slot.
Torn Banner Studios called late-game progression the biggest missing aspect of the game and built Responder Retirement to give veteran players reasons to re-roll responders and try new builds.
No More Room In Hell 2 released Aug. 11, 2026, developed and published by Torn Banner Studios and Green Man Gaming Publishing, with an ESRB Mature 17+ rating. Early access began in 2024, and the 1.0 launch drew many new players even though the game remains unfinished. The Gamers’ Temple reported that the game has reached 1 million players and units sold, Torn Banner Studios’ largest launch, with a peak of nearly 16,000 concurrent players on Steam. Steve Piggott, the studio’s CEO and creative director, called the 1.2 update an important milestone.
“We’re thrilled by how warmly the game has been received,” Piggott said.
The developers added experimental subtitles beginning with single variants of CRC dialogue, with limited settings to customize text size and opacity. Subtitles convey the core goal of mission objectives even when dialogue lines vary, and the developers are encouraging feedback while the feature remains experimental.

Controller players can adjust left and right controller dead zones individually, and the developers updated the inventory wheel to make playing easier.
Nameplate and VoIP voice chat ranges allow communication up to 90m on Power Plant and Pottsville, 60m on Bunker, Lewiston, Flooded and Lighthouse, and 45m on Ruby Lake, NOTLD, Broadway and Hospital. The Power Plant finale now requires two randomly selected objectives in three exterior points of interest, one random parts repair group, then a control-room codebook, code entry, and a lever pull. The update combined underwhelming finale scenarios and spaced zombie spawners farther apart to reduce pressure.
Torn Banner Studios said Hell Mode will act as an incredibly difficult weekly challenge with new modifiers for a specific map, unique rewards, and a design aimed at players who want punishment beyond Extreme mode. Hell Mode encourages the community to work together to beat the weekly challenges.
The studio is also working on new firearms to fill weapon gaps for some ammunition types and plans new thematic zombies based on specific objective maps, keeping infected grounded rather than supernatural. The studio plans a progression-locked solo mode as one of the biggest future updates, separated from standard multiplayer progression, and it joins Survival mode reworks and objective maps on the future work list.
The studio said George Romeroro’s work remains the biggest inspiration for the game’s grounded feeling and tone, while Ruby Lake draws on slasher style such as Friday the 13th. It said there was not anything specific beyond slasher style, though Romeroro’s grounded approach shapes the game overall. It described a Discord cat contest as a very impromptu thing that added two bracket winners as cosmetics in the Killer Cat pack. The bundle also includes a full-body cosmetic set, a flashlight, a compass, and an icon honoring horror tropes and an NMRIH1 favorite.
Torn Banner Studios and Green Man Gaming offer 25% off on Steam and Epic Games stores for the rest of October. PlayStation players get 20% off until Nov. 4, and Xbox Stores follow with 20% off until Nov. 5.
