S-GAME released the launch trailer for Phantom Blade Zero on October 22, 2026, and confirmed that physical editions for PS5 will arrive in 2027.

The digital version launches October 29, 2026, on PS5 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. S-GAME set pre-loading for October 27 at 10 am Beijing Time, or October 26 at 7 pm PT, and set the official launch for October 29 at 10 am Beijing Time, or October 28 at 7 pm PT.

Polygon lists the release for October 28 in Eastern Time, with digital pre-orders able to preload October 26 at 10 pm ET and play starting October 28 at 10 pm ET. S-GAME is prioritizing the digital launch to meet the October 2026 release window and is pushing the disc release to 2027 to avoid logistical delays in disc production.

S-GAME is planning physical editions called Default, Deluxe, and Ultimate, though specific prices and a precise release date have not been announced. The announcement answers fan demand for a physical edition after weeks of requests. Physical buyers will wait several months, while digital buyers face no technical disadvantage and cannot sell the game secondhand. PlayFront says the October 29, 2026 digital launch remains on schedule, while physical disc buyers face a long wait until 2027.

The standard edition costs $59.99, and the Deluxe Edition costs $69.99, including a digital art book, the soundtrack, and the Wulin Legend and Blood-Steel form skins. The Ultimate Edition includes a collectible steel book, has no digital version, and its price and contents remain unannounced. All physical editions will ship on disc rather than as a redemption code.

Soul is an elite assassin framed for his order’s patriarch’s murder and has 66 days to live after suffering a fatal wound. Betrayed and hunted by members of The Order, he revived after a fatal heart wound and must uncover a conspiracy and restore his heart within the time limit. Players take on assassins, uncover plots that threaten the world, and protect their beliefs as Soul.

Combat takes inspiration from Chinese martial arts and soulslike games, with motion-captured fight scenes by consultant Donnie Yen, more than 30 weapons, and over 20 unlockable special abilities called Phantom Edges. The combat is fast-paced and close-quarters, inspired by classic Hong Kong martial arts films.

Phantom Blade Zero uses Unreal Engine 5 and takes place in the Phanton World, which draws inspiration from China’s Ming Dynasty and blends Wuxia, steampunk, cyberpunk, and horror. The developer, S-Game, is based in Beijing and is known for the Rainblood series. IGN describes the game as classic Wuxia storytelling combined with action.

The PC version requires a minimum of a GTX 1660 with 6GB of memory or an RX 5500 XT with 8GB, 16GB of RAM, and an SSD. The recommended specification is an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT for 1440p at 60 frames per second. The PC build uses Denuvo as third-party DRM, and Japanese screen text and subtitles are supported with no Japanese audio while audio is offered in English and Chinese. Note reports that according to VICE, the game unlocks at 11:00 AM JST on October 29.

The game takes up approximately 134.8 GB of storage space on PS5. On October 15, the Steam store had not listed the required storage capacity even though an SSD is mandatory.

Pre-orders have been live since August 11. On Steam, the standard edition is priced at 8,580 yen, and pre-order bonuses include the Cornucopia accessory, which increases Soul Dust drop rate by 10 percent, and the Legacy outfit, also obtainable by progressing through the game.

The release moved from September 9 to Thursday, October 29. Before the October 22 announcement, observers speculated the game might be digital-only after a Play Asia listing displayed a Digital tag without any physical disc reference. A Play Asia representative had previously said there would be both physical and digital versions, but S-GAME had not confirmed its plans, and as of October 16 the studio had not given clarity on a physical disc. Fans worried the game might not get a physical release as more publishers move away from physical editions, and throughout the promotional run only digital pre-orders were offered, meaning a day-one physical edition was not expected.
