Owlchemy Labs revealed Hyper Visor, an original XR arcade blaster, as a launch title for XREAL Aura on October 22, 2026, in an Austin, Texas press release.
The Austin studio, founded in 2010, is owned by Google and built its reputation on Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator. Google acquired the company in 2017. Owlchemy now calls itself an XR game studio and has also released Cosmonious High and Dimensional Double Shift. Its catalog includes Job Simulator, described as an award-winning platinum-selling VR launch title, Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, which received an Emmy nomination, and the top ten VR title Vacation Simulator.
Andrew Eiche said XREAL Aura is essentially a pair of shades, making extended reality more approachable for people hesitant to wear a headset. He raised the cafe test during a Game Developer interview taped at Gamescom. The studio’s philosophy of XR for everyone aims to lower the barrier of the headset itself. “Our core philosophy is XR for everyone,” Eiche said.
Hyper Visor puts players in charge of a mysterious pair of living shades and an energy stream from their hands. Across eight levels, each with targets, challenges, and a boss, players seal rifts and set reality right.
Road to VR characterized the experience as leaning more toward 2D than full immersion. A screenshot for Hyper Visor displays a sign in Owlchemy Labs’ office that says Caution, VR users have the right of way. The image was a screenshot rather than a trailer image. The detail appears as an example of the studio’s love for VR games appearing unabated even with its jump to a new medium.
Four existing Owlchemy titles will join Hyper Visor on XREAL Aura at launch: Job Simulator, Vacation Simulator, Dimensional Double Shift, and Inside [JOB]. Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator are priced at $19.99 each on Google Play, while Inside [JOB] and Dimensional Double Shift are free. Hyper Visor will cost $1.99 USD on the Google Play Store. Owlchemy’s Google Play page listed those four apps as of October 22.

Inside [JOB] is a free mixed reality experience built for Android XR. The Google Play distribution guide treats wired XR glasses and XR headsets as devices for immersive apps. Developers declare android.software.xr.api.spatial or android.software.xr.api.openxr features to reach them, and the guide provides no manifest feature that tells see-through displays apart from headsets.
XREAL Aura is priced at $1,279 for 256GB and $1,499 for 512GB, with prices named on October 7. The device is described as high-tech sunglasses or spatial computing eyewear that connects by wire to an Android phone. The coverage distinguishes traditional augmented reality from XR as an umbrella term. It uses Sony micro-OLED panels for a 70-degree optical see-through view, and its electrochromic lens blocks up to 99.9 percent of outside light across five levels.
Hyper Visor will be available when XREAL Aura launches, and the hardware shipping date has not been set. XREAL said shipping begins before the holidays in the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, with the product page still saying Fall 2026. The game had not appeared on Google Play as of October 22, and the announcement phrases availability as tied to the hardware launch without giving a calendar date.
Zetik says the trailer calls Hyper Visor available now on XREAL AURA. Other reports tie the game to the hardware launch without giving a calendar date. XREAL said in August that AURA had passed 10,000 reservations, and Aura remains in pre-order without a shipping date. Zetik also describes XREAL as Google’s official Android XR partner and Aura as the first see-through AR glasses for the platform.
Zetik describes Hyper Visor as a more approachable 2D-style XR experience, with Aura’s sunglasses-like form argued to lower headset adoption barriers.
Job Simulator came to the HTC Vive in 2016 and has since passed 6 million installs. Dimensional Double Shift passed one million downloads in 2026, a milestone mentioned alongside the recent reveal of Single Player Mode for the co-op VR game. The studio’s catalog also includes Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, which received an Emmy nomination.
Sources frame the low price and launch title status as a showcase-sized bet for a device nobody owns yet, relevant to developers assessing commercial relevance in tougher economic conditions. Owlchemy continues to share VR knowledge and experiments through blog posts, white papers, and global talks.
