Blizzard released the final pre-launch patch notes for World of Warcraft: Forever on November 3, 2026, ahead of the game’s November 4, 2026 launch at 3pm PST.

Blizzard said controller support entered a complete functional state, letting gamepads handle every facet of the game. IGN reported that an Xbox blog described the change as reimagining the way people play. During the beta, controller support was only in an alpha stage and carried limitations and bugs.

The built-in support needs no player-made addons such as ConsolePort, unlike modern WoW’s barebones options. Reviewers found 28 keybinds available for controller combat and interactions.

Gamepad Alpha support turns on with one Options checkbox and changes on-screen prompts to match the pad. Holding the right stick opens a ping wheel with Attack, Warning, On My Way, and Assist commands. Mike Nelson tested the setup on an ROG Xbox Ally through Battle.net and said nothing is inaccessible via controller. Paul Kubit said, “Official out-of-the-box support is something we’re super excited to add in Forever.”

Blizzard has not ruled out retail controller support, with Kubit saying never say never. Handheld play lacks official support yet, and chat works best with a keyboard nearby. Executive producer Holly Longdale said Blizzard wants WoW playable wherever and on whatever players want.

She also said platforms will be more ubiquitous and that gamepad work gives players flexibility beyond consoles. Blizzard said that if it were making a console version of World of Warcraft, it would not be a secret.

Yahoo Tech described Project Helix as a rumored Xbox hybrid device that may launch in 2028 with a handheld option and cost $1,200 to $1,800 without a subsidy. WoW would likely run on it if Microsoft builds a console version.

Blizzard changed every race and class in World of Warcraft: Forever. The developer raised damage across classes over two weeks and raised higher-level creature health to compensate. Blizzard plans no major class tuning before raids open next month except for bugs and serious outliers.

After players level past 30 and try varied content, Blizzard expects a large data-driven tuning pass. Developer notes say class design aims not at perfect numerical equality but at making every class feel valuable to the groups it joins. The notes describe the changes as a starting point, with classes continuing to evolve over the months and years ahead.

Blizzard developer notes say Forever class design doubles down on the strengths and differences that make each class unique rather than overly unifying classes. The notes also say some changes reflect having been hasty in turning to Burning Crusade- or Wrath-era solutions instead of carving out new ones that fit the Forever combat model. Blizzard rolled back Shaman abilities such as Lava Burst to center the Elemental spec on lightning.

Druid Shred weapon damage percent increased to 200% from 155%. Hunter Aimed Shot bonus damage on all ranks rose by approximately 110%. Arcane Blast mana cost per stack dropped to 100% from 175%, Intellect-based spell damage per stack fell from 15% to 12%, and duration is now 18 seconds.

Paladins can train Righteous Fury at level 10, down from 16. Warlock training costs are reduced by the expected costs of buying Grimoires for their pets. Dwarves and Orcs each lost one passive ability, while many other races had passives weakened.

Humans’ Ruthless ability now raises critical strike chance by 1 percent, down from 2 percent. Trolls gained a longer duration on Berserking, described as a mini-bloodlust. New race and class combinations include Orc Mages, Troll Warlocks, Undead Paladins, Human Hunters, Gnome Priests, and Dwarf Shamans.

Skyborne players pick Horde or Alliance at creation, then receive class access based on that faction. Horde Windshapers can be Shamans, while Alliance High-Order Skyborne can be Mages. Throw now uses the correct 0.5 second windup timer instead of the throwing weapon’s attack speed.

The quitter debuff lasts 40 seconds instead of 5 minutes. The stun duration dropped to 2.5 seconds from 3 seconds. All races have correct base stats, including Tauren Warriors starting with +5 strength versus Humans instead of the wrong +2.

Roots from procs now use diminishing returns, covering Frostbite, Entrapment, Improved Wing Clip, Counterattack, and Improved Hamstring. Patch notes say the Legacy Reward – Replica Ironforge Air Rifle can now correctly be used on allies that also have one equipped.

Most talents lost the low-rank casting penalty, with Blizzard as the noted exception. The mage spell Blizzard keeps a reduced chance to trigger Arcane Concentration, Frostbite, and Fingers of Frost when cast from ranks more than 12 levels below the caster. Newly learned spells stop appearing on action bars automatically.

Training every class ability from level 1 through 60 costs between 206 and 207 gold across all classes. Abilities taught at the same level carry matching training costs, apart from Priest abilities tied to specific races. Bear Form and Dire Bear Form threat bonus rose from 50% to 115% to offset Blessing of Salvation’s removal.

PCGamesN listed movement, spells, interactions, and UI navigation as examples of controller-usable experiences. A bug where Huey Sunnydale’s legs failed to render was fixed, and human death sounds were adjusted. Over eight million characters were created in the beta alone.

Launch offers more than 1,000 new quests, nine dungeons, two raids, and one battleground. Blizzard keeps the level cap at 60 and will expand with quests, zones, dungeons, and raids instead of old expansions. Forever requires an active World of Warcraft subscription, so existing players pay nothing extra.

Skyborne cost $29.99 for the Heroic Pack, $59.99 for the Epic Pack, and $79.99 for the collection including Warcraft III: Reforged. Buyers of the two pricier Skyborne editions accessed the beta from September 17 to October 21, and all editions allow name reservation since October 27.

Bar chart, Skyborne pack prices, US dollars. Heroic Pack: $29.99; Epic Pack: $59.99; Collection: $79.99.

Riverglades contains over 150 new quests spanning the mid-30s to mid-40s level range. Zephras Isle provides a skybound starting experience for levels 1 through 12. New players choose an Experience Preset then a Ruleset before starting the level 1 through 60 journey.

World of Warcraft: Forever expands Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor with new and reimagined zones including Mount Hyjal and Shen’dralas. The release is built as a permanent home alongside modern and Classic WoW. World of Warcraft: Forever was announced at BlizzCon 2026 in September and built by the WoW Classic team; fans had spent years calling the project Classic Plus.

The game includes optional visual upgrades to lighting and water plus a toggle between SD and HD character models. The game uses first and last names. It is set after the events of Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core. Blizzard is improving the game’s divisive layering system as part of launch preparations.
