Epic Games Store is giving away the indie survival-horror game Sorry We’re Closed for free, opening the claim window Thursday, October 29.
To claim it, players log into the Epic Games Store between Thursday, October 29 at 8 a.m. PT, 11 a.m. ET, 3 p.m. GMT and 4 p.m. CET and Thursday, November 5 at the same times. Polygon reports the offer ends at 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, November 5. Once claimed, users add the game to their account and the copy stays in the library at no cost.
Polygon frames the offer as a no-charge PC game for the week, and PCGamesN introduces the title by contrasting its bright neon look with its true horror nature. Indie developer À La Mode built Sorry We’re Closed around Michelle, a young woman in London who becomes trapped between the real world and a demonic plane.
PCGamesN says Michelle carries heartbreak and guilt over failed relationships when a strange encounter opens her Third Eye, which lets her perceive both realms. The sinister Operator promises to restore her bond with a lost love, and those promises crack as she goes deeper.
Play splits frantic first-person combat with fixed third-person camera angles for a classic survival-horror feel.
Michelle explores fixed-camera spaces, shoots arcade-style, collects items and manages resources to survive, and she wields a Hellhound pistol. A demonic curse hangs over her, and she can interfere with her London neighbors.
The campaign is choice-based with multiple endings and runs about eight hours. Polygon presents the branching narrative and replay value as central features. Michelle navigates relationships between angels and demons, and players decide whether the struggle is worth it. PCGamesN says players draw their own boundaries, and it says the story reflects players’ internal conflicts back at them.
Nat puts it this way: “The truth is that there are no objectively moral choices in Sorry We’re Closed.” Nat says the choices circle back to love, codependency, obsession and hate.

Polygon reports the game launched in November 2024 and has drawn nearly 1,700 Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam, using that volume to show player satisfaction since launch. Blizzard Watch lists November 14, 2024 as the release date, gives it an M rating, and notes a previous free release during the 2025 Advent Calendar.
Polygon highlights Steam player reactions, including one who praised the game’s style, charm, innovation, worldbuilding and characters, and another who called it a survival horror queer dating sim dungeon crawler.
PCGamesN names Konami’s Silent Hill 2 as the closest reference, pointing to decaying settings, psychosexual monsters and a love-focused narrative. Nat, writing for PCGamesN, argues the game continues the conversation Silent Hill 2 began two decades ago.
Blizzard Watch describes a day-glo look with a high-contrast neon palette, likening it to Lisa Frank having a nightmare trapped in Resident Evil. It also notes relatively few polygons and a weird, sometimes annoying fixed camera, and warns players to expect irritations from 2004 to return full force.
WorthPlaying calls Sorry We’re Closed a nostalgic single-player survival-horror game and says optional tank controls are available. Michelle uses her Third Eye to see between worlds, uncover secrets and solve puzzles. The game offers first-person and fixed-camera third-person perspectives, single-player and co-op play, and purchasable art book and soundtrack downloadable content.
When the Sorry We’re Closed promotion ends, Flotsam and Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms become free from November 5 through November 12, 2026. Blizzard Watch notes the Epic Games Store gives away a game or two every week and presents this as the free Halloween game.
