miHoYo announced on Nov. 1, 2026, during the Petit Planet Pre-Launch Special Program livestream that Petit Planet will come to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. The console port is HoYoverse’s first life simulation game, originally unveiled in September 2025 for PC and mobile devices. HoYoverse held a Stardrift Test version in April 2026 ahead of the launch.

The game launches globally on Dec. 4, 2026 on PC, iOS, and Android, while the Switch 2 edition remains without a specific date. Reporting on the program indicated the console port needed more time than the initial PC and mobile release. PC players can download it through the Epic Games Store or miHoYo’s client, while iOS arrives on the App Store and Android on Google Play. HoYoverse said during the program that its team is hard at work on the port, with more gameplay footage and details promised heading into next year.

In Petit Planet, a free-to-play cozy life simulation about nurturing a home planet and connecting with worlds across the starry sky, players take the role of Planet Tenders and journey to the Starsea on the back of Oumuamua, a Starsea Spirit described as listening to the wishes in people’s hearts. On their own planet, they plant a Luca Seed that grows into a Luca Arbor, shaping the landscape, seasons, and ecosystem as time passes. Beyond the home planet, players can sail across the Starsea to visit scattered Islets and the Galactic Bazaar.

Players build relationships with Neighbors through encounters, and Planet Coordinator Mobai and Starsea Racer Elsasani are the first to welcome each Planet Tender. They can visit other players’ planets to trade local specialties and swap letters, becoming Starry Companions with friends. At the Galactic Bazaar, players earn Bazaar Jelly by playing rhythm games, Talk Valuation, lucky roulette, and card games, then trade it for emotes or cosmetic items. Through Starsea Voyage, players sail to unknown islands and can welcome Neighbors such as hat merchant Dorjelang, action actor Manman, Starsea route patrol officer Hapeno, and agriculture student Tika as residents.

Players gather Luca by farming, cooking, foraging, beachcombing, fishing, catching bugs, and selling goods. They can craft furniture using gathered materials and Idea Cards, or buy furniture and outfits from Loomi Home Shopping and Glenn’s Shop. HoYoverse describes Luca as the planet’s vitality, giving each world its own character.

Players can earn more than 1,000 items of clothing and furniture free by playing regularly. HoYoverse CEO Liu Wei appeared on the preview livestream and emphasized that players get the items through check-ins and in-game play. The first Petit Planet Seasonal Creation Event begins at launch and offers cash prizes, in-game rewards, and official merchandise to chosen fan creations.

Starting Nov. 1, 2026, the Launch a Planet event asks players to create planets on the official event website for a shot at surprise grand prizes. In the Besties, Made to Match! event, players who form a group of two friends to pre-register each receive an exclusive item of clothing, and HoYoverse will gift the Akibo Top to all participants in a three-player party. Planet Tenders can enter a lucky draw on the official website for prizes.

Players can pre-register on the App Store and the Google Play Store ahead of the launch, with sign-up open on the official website. The official website milestone event grants Bestie Star-Light right away and awards the Sproutling Outfit and Bazaar Jelly once global pre-registrations hit 10 million. The Gifts from the Starsea event has players complete missions for entry into draws for iPhones and official merchandise.

Petit Planet earned an ESRB rating for Nintendo Switch 2 in June 2026. The ESRB rated it E for Everyone, with Users Interact and In-Game Purchases listed as interactive elements and random items specified. The rating describes a simulation game in which players explore an empty planet while interacting with neighbors, fishing, catching bugs, planting crops, and shaping the landscape.

The trailer shown at the end of the livestream confirmed the Switch 2 port supports docked and handheld play. miHoYo has not disclosed Switch 2-specific features, performance targets, or whether progression will carry over between the console version and PC and mobile platforms. The ESRB rating does not promise an immediate release or regional simultaneity.

HoYoverse will host Petit Planet’s first domestic offline event at G-STAR 2026, held at BEXCO in Busan for four days from Nov. 19 to 22, 2026. The 100-booth presence will offer a hands-on demo zone, special stage programs, lucky draws, and free merchandise giveaways.

Polygon calls the game a farming-focused take with cozy-game roots such as Stardew Valley and a sci-fi aesthetic like Animal Crossing. The outlet also notes that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Switch 2 edition came out in January, with no brand-new Animal Crossing game announced for the console. Its preview coverage questioned how disruptive gacha live-service elements could prove after pre-release playtesting, with answers expected in December.

NintendoReporters describes HoYoverse as known for combat-focused games including Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, while the new game takes a slower route built on daily routines and making a home among the stars. Following the special program, players can visit Petit Planet’s official X account to get a Moving Guide or enter to win a suitcase, gift cards, or an exclusive luggage tag. Pocket Tactics is giving away three Nintendo Switch 2 and Pro Controller bundles plus ten $50 gift cards for readers who follow the Petit Planet X account and repost the announcement with #PetitPlanetSwitch2 before Nov. 15, 2026.
