miHoYo confirmed on Nov. 1, 2026 during the game’s pre-launch special program that Petit Planet is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027 without a specific release date beyond that year.

The PC and mobile release arrives Dec. 4, 2026 on Epic Games Store, a standalone client, the App Store, and Google Play. miHoYo said Petit Planet launches first on those platforms. The ESRB listed the game for Windows PC and Nintendo Switch 2 in June 2026 before miHoYo’s formal console announcement, and that rating does not announce a release date or store listing.

miHoYo developed Petit Planet, a free-to-play life simulation game set in a cosmic setting. HoYoverse introduced Petit Planet in September 2025 as its first life simulation game, initially promoted only for PC and mobile platforms with the slogan Weave Your Dreams Beneath the Stars.

Players become Planet Tenders who travel to the Starsea aboard Oumuamua, a Starsea Spirit described as hearing wishes in people’s hearts. A Luca Seed starts the player’s planet and grows into a Luca Arbor, while Luca shapes skies, grasslands, and beaches to let players change the mood and look of a whole world.

Mobai serves as Planet Coordinator and Elsasani as Starsea Racer, and both welcome each Planet Tender. More Neighbors arrive over time, each with their own stories. Neighbors are fuzzy characters who bring stories, dreams, and temperaments to a player’s planet. Friendships grow through conversations, gifts, and unique interactions.

Players can sail across the Starsea from their home planet to explore scattered Islets and visit the Galactic Bazaar for games, auctions, and sharing creations. Starsea Voyages let players board a vehicle with friendly Neighbors to reach unknown Islets, where they may find rare creatures, hidden recipes, new resources, and unexpected friendships. The vehicle turns interworld travel into part of the fantasy rather than a menu choice.

Players farm, gather resources, and decorate homes as daily activities. A typical day involves planting, cooking, crafting, mining, beachcombing, and fishing. Beyond their home planets, players discover creatures and collect materials on scattered islands. The ESRB lists fishing, bug catching, crop planting, and landscape customization.

The game centers on building a personal planet instead of fast-paced battles, and includes growing crops, cooking, crafting, and traveling across a colorful galaxy. Harvested exotic crops, discovered ecosystems, and gathered materials turn into useful items or decorative objects.

More than 1,000 clothing and furniture items can be earned for free through regular gameplay. Players select outfits, craft different looks, personalize their appearance, decorate interiors with furniture, and arrange outdoor spaces around themes. In the Besties, Made to Match! event, players who pre-register with two friends receive an exclusive clothing item.

The Launch a Planet event began Nov. 1, 2026, and players can design planets on the official event website for surprise grand prizes. The first Petit Planet Seasonal Creation Event starts at launch with cash prizes, in-game rewards, and official merchandise. Following the special program, players can visit Petit Planet’s official X account for a Moving Guide and prizes including a suitcase, gift cards, and an exclusive luggage tag, and miHoYo will run a pre-registration lucky draw with exciting prizes.

Petit Planet received an E for Everyone rating from the ESRB, with Users Interact and In-Game Purchases including random items. The ESRB listing includes no standard content descriptors. The ESRB record provides no release date, price, or launch strategy.

VICE reported that gacha elements would be part of Petit Planet, but implementation details remained unclear when the article was written. HoYoverse is the developer behind Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero.

In 2024, Chinese authorities granted release clearance for Petit Planet alongside global trademark applications, and HoYoverse ran a Stardrift Test version in April 2026.

In August 2025, sources with knowledge of the project told DBLTAP that Petit Planet was in development for Nintendo Switch. The sources could not confirm whether the target was the original Switch, its successor, or both. They considered Switch 2 alongside PC, iOS, and Android more likely. Barring surprises, Petit Planet would become HoYoverse’s first title on a Nintendo console.

Honkai: Nexus Anima received a trademark earlier in 2025 and was teased at Honkai: Star Rail’s anniversary concert.

HoYoverse will end Genshin Impact support on PS4 in 2026. Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero are absent from older consoles, which DBLTAP says indicates HoYoverse is focused on the latest hardware. HoYoverse is actively seeking to broaden the audience it reaches, and DBLTAP describes Petit Planet as comparable to Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley.

Slime Rancher 2 launches on Switch 2 in January 2027 as part of the simulation lineup. Petit Planet’s addition expands that lineup. The game is a free-to-play cosmic life simulation from miHoYo.

For the console version, miHoYo has not disclosed Switch 2-specific features, performance targets, or cross-progression with PC and mobile. HoYoverse has not detailed the complete set of safety, privacy, and parental options.

Windows PC, iPhone, iPad, and Android have official availability and support the live Final Beta. Switch 2 does not appear in the Final Beta, and its release timing and store availability remain unconfirmed. PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 are absent from the Final Beta, and neither console has an official availability listing. Xbox Series and Xbox One do not appear in the Final Beta and lack an official availability listing.

Steam does not appear in the Final Beta, while Epic Games Store serves as the identified PC storefront. macOS is not in the Final Beta and lacks an official Mac availability listing. The original Switch is not in the Final Beta because the ESRB record refers to Switch 2 rather than the original console. Native Steam Deck support cannot be confirmed without an official Steam release or verified final PC client.

On the App Store, the listing shows iOS 14.0 or later, iPadOS 14.0 or later, and a 3.5 GB app size. Google Play verifies the publisher but leaves out a complete hardware table. The Final Beta FAQ says progress moves between PC and an assigned mobile platform under one HoYoverse Account, and emulators do not work; these rules apply to the test, not necessarily to launch cross-save. Nintendo Everything said it would report back once it obtains an exact release date for Petit Planet on Switch 2.
