Slay the Spire 2 ranked first among the 20 most-played Steam Deck games covering October 2 through October 31, ahead of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and Cyberpunk 2077.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered placed second, Cyberpunk 2077 placed third, Stardew Valley placed fourth, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth placed fifth, and Baldur’s Gate 3 placed sixth. Digital Citizen noted that Baldur’s Gate 3 took sixth place even though the game has demanding hardware requirements. Balatro ranked eighth on Steam Deck HQ’s top 20, sitting below Final Fantasy Resonance and above Skyrim Special Edition.

Final Fantasy Resonance debuted at seventh place on the Oct. 2026 Steam Deck top 20, ahead of Balatro, Skyrim Special Edition, and Valheim. “Final Fantasy Resonance made one of the strongest debuts among October’s newcomers, reaching seventh place.” — Digital Citizen Romania, Digital Citizen Romania. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse entered at number 12 despite technical and interface limitations on the handheld. Dressmaker entered at number 17 as the third newcomer.

Megabonk, Hades 2, and Diablo 4 left the Steam Deck top 20 in October 2026 and were replaced by Final Fantasy Resonance, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, and Dressmaker. Steam Deck HQ said only three games shifted from the previous month. Digital Citizen said Dressmaker’s inclusion adds further variety to the rankings and that the list otherwise remains largely unchanged from September.

Steam Deck HQ said Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is not great on the Deck but remains playable, and Digital Citizen noted technical and interface limitations on the handheld. The full Oct. 2026 list also included Skyrim Special Edition, Valheim, Brotato, Fields of Mistria, Red Dead Redemption 2, Vampire Survivors, Palworld, Graveyard Keeper 2, Elden Ring, and No Man’s Sky.

Digital Citizen said the Oct. results highlight the continued popularity of role-playing games, indie titles, and games that fit shorter handheld play sessions. Stardew Valley, Vampire Survivors, and Balatro suit portable gaming because they allow progress in short sessions, while Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3 show the handheld’s appeal for larger PC experiences. Digital Citizen said major games arrive in Nov., so the next monthly rankings could show whether Oct.’s newcomers keep their positions.

Digital Citizen said the pattern indicates that players keep coming back to known titles even after new games arrive. Steam Deck HQ said Oct. 2026 brought more new releases than the writer expected and noted that these rankings normally repeat the same games. Steam Deck HQ said Final Fantasy Resonance, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, and Dressmaker are all new launches and described Final Fantasy Resonance and Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse as incredible releases.
