Capcom revealed Cook Man as its fourth Robot Master for Mega Man: Dual Override at the Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show on Nov. 1, 2026. The publisher confirmed that Proto Man can be played alongside Mega Man ahead of the game’s spring 2027 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Capcom depicts Cook Man as an itinerant chef who took over an oil storage depot to win praise for his cooking, driven by a desire for public appreciation. The boss confronts players at the culmination of his culinary-themed stage, attempting to halt Mega Man and Proto Man, and battles heroes using his Kung Fu Cooking technique, per official character descriptions Capcom released on Nov. 1, 2026. Capcom revealed the boss through a dedicated preview video with gameplay from the culinary-themed stage.
The Cook Man preview trailer showed one energy-consuming special weapon that lands a charging strike and doubles as a midair dash. It drains an energy pool with each use. Weapons taken from defeated Robot Masters give tactical advantages. Astro Man from Mega Man 8 also appears in the video, flying across the screen alongside hints of other legacy adversaries.
Twinkle Girl is another newly revealed Robot Master, and she uses firework-themed offensive moves; players who beat her can turn her abilities into a special weapon they can unlock. Among the other newly introduced Robot Masters are Jet Man and Tank Man, with Capcom revealing Tank Man earlier in the same week before unveiling Cook Man.
According to Gematsu’s Sept. 9, 2026 report, Proto Man uses close-range strikes controlled by a heat gauge, while Mega Man relies mainly on ranged projectiles. A Proto Man player must watch the gauge during combat to keep performance up while landing heavy strikes. That choice between two separate protagonists means players tackle each stage with distinct mechanics.
The Override mechanic gives robots a temporary surge in power, then a temporary drop in performance once the boost ends. Since the boost brings a later penalty, players need to time when they activate it carefully during difficult fights.
A Custom Chip system lets players modify Mega Man and Proto Man with upgrades such as hover, rapid-fire and protective bubble shields. This personalization framework allows users to test chip loadouts and assemble individual gameplay builds.
Capcom plans to ship newly sculpted amiibo figures of Mega Man and Proto Man with the game’s commercial rollout. Gematsu reported on Sept. 9, 2026, that Capcom plans to share details on the amiibo features and timing in a later update.
Capcom first revealed Mega Man: Dual Override at The Game Awards 2025. The publisher held a boss creation contest between Dec. 11, 2025, and Jan. 1, 2026, requiring that submitted designs carry a suction-powered right arm; out of six excellence award honorees, Capcom plans to turn one winning player concept into a working in-game boss. Capcom’s boss design art contests began with Mega Man 2 in 1988, although the feature was missing from Mega Man 9, 10, and 11.
