Rockstar Offers free Grand Theft Auto 6 map and cover art downloads

Rockstar Games will offer free digital downloads of the Grand Theft Auto 6 map of Leonida and cover art poster on its official website starting November 19, 2026. Players can download both digital files, print them on their own printers, and keep the printouts as collectibles. VICE reported on November 4, 2026, that players do not need to pre-order Grand Theft Auto 6 to get the map and cover art.

Rockstar announced the free digital map and cover art in a Newswire blog, the publisher’s official news channel, published on November 3, 2026, as Grand Theft Auto 6 was just weeks away from its November 19 release.

The double-sided physical poster, meaning a poster with different artwork on each side, will show the Grand Theft Auto 6 cover art and full map and will cost $0.99 on the Rockstar Store shortly after launch. Players can also receive the poster free as a gift with any purchase from the Rockstar Store after it becomes available. No minimum purchase beyond buying something else from the store is specified. The free gift option applies once the physical poster is offered through the Rockstar Store.

The physical Grand Theft Auto 6 map is set to arrive shortly after launch, and Rockstar has not announced an exact release date. It is sold separately or offered as a free gift with any Rockstar Store purchase, the publisher’s online shop.

Rockstar has not confirmed whether the Grand Theft Auto 6 physical edition will include the double-sided poster alongside the download code, a code used to redeem a digital copy of the game. Meristation reported on November 3, 2026 that the physical edition will not include a map, so buyers receive only the game code, just as the release lacks a disc. Meristation tied the missing physical map to the missing disc, saying the boxed edition gives purchasers a code rather than a disc or map, while the official printable map and the $0.99 double-sided poster are obtained separately through Rockstar’s channels. Rockstar’s announcement does not explicitly address retailer bonus items and does not announce the Grand Theft Auto 6 map as a physical edition pre-order bonus, an item offered only to customers who pre-order the game.

Grand Theft Auto 6 launches globally on November 19, 2026, using local midnight release timing, which means the game unlocks at midnight in each player’s time zone, across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. Release times differ by region. Rockstar gave city-by-city local launch times for November 18-19, 2026, such as 9pm PST on November 18 in Los Angeles and 12am EST on November 19 in New York.

Digital preloading, which means downloading the game files before release so the game is ready to play at launch, begins on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at midnight local time on PlayStation 5. Xbox Series X and S owners can begin preloading globally at 12am GMT on November 10, 2026, equivalent to 4pm PT and 7pm ET on November 9. That timing lets North American Xbox players start downloading on November 9 rather than November 10. Rockstar confirmed the preloads will begin November 10, 2026, two days earlier than previously scheduled.

Rockstar said, “So make sure you’ve got ample space to begin pre-loading as soon as possible”. The preload file weighs up to 212 GB depending on the device.

Retailers should offer code-in-box versions of Grand Theft Auto 6 for both consoles beginning November 12, 2026, according to Rockstar. Code-in-box means a physical retail package that contains a download code instead of a game disc. Rockstar used the word should when describing retailer availability for the physical code-in-box versions.

Rockstar says including the physical map would be a welcome surprise for players and earn the publisher more goodwill. Earlier Grand Theft Auto games included a double-sided poster featuring cover art and the in-game map.
