The Acer Predator Atlas 8 is a Windows 11 handheld gaming PC built around Intel Arc G3 Extreme graphics on the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 Panther Lake platform. Its processor offers 14 cores and 14 threads, with a top turbo speed of 4.7GHz. The integrated Intel Arc B390 graphics use 12 Xe3 Cores on the 3nm Intel 18A process node, an architecture that TweakTown said debuted in laptops before reaching handhelds. A second variant with an Intel Arc G3 processor and Intel Arc B370 graphics is also coming.
The screen is an 8-inch IPS display at 1920×1200 resolution, reaching 120Hz with VRR support, 500 nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus with DXC protection. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
The Best Buy model offers two USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C ports, support for DisplayPort 2.1 and Thunderbolt 4, 65W Power Delivery, a MicroSD expansion slot, and a headphone jack, and the unit sold at Best Buy combines 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM, a 512GB internal SSD, and MicroSD card expansion. Top configurations provide 24GB of LPDDR5x-7467 memory and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 storage, with May 2026 previews outlining the flagship model’s memory and storage limits.
It runs on a battery of up to 80Wh, using Intel Endurance Gaming technology to balance frame rate and power draw away from a charger, a feature outlets described as a response to a persistent endurance challenge for handhelds. Acer sells 60Wh and 80Wh battery options with a 65W power adapter included, and the chassis measures 299 × 127.4 × 58.4mm at its thickest point, weighing 770 grams with a 60Wh battery or 810 grams with an 80Wh battery, dimensions Liliputing provided in its May 2026 preview.
It pairs TMR non-contact drift-resistant joysticks with dual-mode Hall Effect triggers, with Liliputing noting an additional micro-switch mode option. Sound comes from dual 2-watt speakers with DTS:X Ultra, plus dual microphones powered by Acer PurifiedVoice for AI-assisted noise reduction. Thermal management uses a custom dual-fan setup built around a precision metal Predator AeroBlade fan with 89 blades at 0.1mm thickness, delivering a claimed 10% increase in airflow compared with similar handheld devices; Digital Trends called the metal fan an unusual thermal choice for a handheld.
It operates on Windows 11, includes an Xbox Game Pass subscription, and carries Acer’s PredatorSense app for system monitoring, customization, optimization, and RGB settings. TweakTown said the subscription and app come with every purchase, while AndroidGuys added that the device runs full Windows 11 with Xbox Mode support and standard PC launcher access.
Acer markets the Predator Atlas 8 against AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme-based handhelds and devices from ASUS, Lenovo, and MSI, entering a competitive handheld segment according to Gizmochina. The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 sells for $1,299.99, the same as the Acer, while the Legion Go 2 is $700 pricier. Valve recently increased the cost of its flagship Steam Deck OLED 1TB model by $300, a move TweakTown discussed in the context of how memory and storage costs could affect handheld pricing and appeal.
The Acer Predator Atlas 8 has not been reviewed by IGN, though Jacqueline Thomas reviewed the MSI Claw 8 EX AI+ handheld using the Arc G3 Extreme chip. Thomas said the MSI Claw “blew every Z2 Extreme-powered device out of the water,” with performance improvements of as much as 40%. In testing, the MSI device ran most titles at up to 60fps on its 1200p screen and carried an $1800 price tag. TweakTown said the chip handles real-time ray tracing plus AI-powered XeSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation, hitting 60-100 FPS in titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Forza Horizon 6, which TweakTown said positions the integrated graphics alongside a discrete laptop GPU.
Acer also revealed the Predator Atlas 7, which has a 7-inch 1920x1080p display, a standard UHS-II SD card slot, and optional TMR joysticks, with Q4 2026 availability in North America and a November release in EMEA. HotHardware compared the Atlas 7 to the Atlas 8, noting the smaller screen, different card slot, and optional joysticks while providing separate availability timing.
Early previews set an October 2026 target for North America, EMEA, and Australia while pricing remained unconfirmed, with Computex 2026 coverage establishing the initial launch plan. IGN published the availability report on October 23, 2026, describing the $1,299.99 price as aggressive compared to the broader trend of rising gaming PC costs and noting the approaching holiday shopping season could make stock scarce.
