  • FandomWire reports digital pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI opens on November 12, 2026.

Push Square reported on Nov. 7, 2026 that photos of a sealed German PlayStation 5 copy of Grand Theft Auto VI appeared on Reddit and were later deleted.

KeenGamer reported on Nov. 7, 2026 that a Reddit user claiming to work in retail shared the photos, which show the front cover artwork and back cover details including screenshots featuring Jason and Lucia and an aircraft over the Leonida Keys. The outlet also reported that the back of the German retail packaging includes a story description.

Push Square, KeenGamer, Khel Now and TweakTown report that the physical edition contains a digital download code inside the box and does not include a game disc. KeenGamer said, “Rockstar has officially confirmed that boxed editions contain a digital download code instead.”

Push Square noted that a disclaimer on the front mentions no disc is included and only a download code is packaged inside. The outlet describes Grand Theft Auto VI as the first major title to ship in a code-in-box format.

Grand Theft Auto VI launches on Nov. 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Physical code-in-box editions are expected to begin shipping and be available for retail pickup starting Nov. 12, 2026.

KeenGamer, Khel Now and Polygon report digital preloading for Grand Theft Auto VI begins on Nov. 10, 2026. Push Square said fans can buy boxed versions from retailers starting Nov. 12, allowing a week to preload ahead of launch. KeenGamer reports physical copies arrived at retailers ahead of the Nov. 19 launch date.

Polygon said, “Rockstar Games announced earlier this week that preloading for GTA 6 will begin on Nov. 10.” FandomWire reports digital preloading opens on Nov. 12, 2026. Push Square states Sony has signaled intent to stop manufacturing Blu-ray discs in 2028, connecting that timeline to the expected spread of code-in-box physical releases after 2028.

Push Square reports the game requires 212GB of storage for pre-loading on PlayStation 5, while KeenGamer reports the German retail packaging lists a minimum of 230GB compared to Rockstar’s previously announced 212GB pre-loading figure. TweakTown reports a data miner revealed a reported PS5 download size of 210GB and states no Xbox Series X|S download size has been reported. FandomWire reports tracking data shows roughly 210GB for the standard edition, though the Ultimate Edition figure is unconfirmed. Polygon reports players need more than 200GB of free space to install.

TweakTown said, “GTA 6’s reported 210GB PS5 download exceeds the 100GB capacity of a PS5 or Xbox Series X disc and would require three discs.” The outlet notes Red Dead Redemption 2 shipped on two discs for PS4 and Xbox One in 2018 as a prior multi-disc physical release.

Push Square’s author expresses concern about plastic waste from code-in-box packaging and would like Sony to use a recyclable format. German retailers MediaMarkt and Saturn revealed a double-sided Grand Theft Auto VI poster offered as a pre-order bonus, with official cover artwork on one side and a female character plus the words Welcome to Vice City on the other. KeenGamer reports MediaMarkt shared the poster photos on Instagram on Nov. 6, 2026, and notes the poster does not contain a map of Leonida unlike previous Rockstar releases.

Later messages reportedly attributed to MediaMarkt suggest the poster could appear inside retail packaging, but Rockstar has not publicly confirmed whether every boxed copy will contain one. Rockstar said a Leonida map and cover-art poster will be free printable digital downloads on Nov. 19, 2026. Push Square states a map of Leonidas is available separately for $0.99 from the Rockstar Store.

Khel Now reports on Nov. 6, 2026 that the physical version includes one digital code and the Vintage Vice City Pack, containing a 55 Rapid Stainer sedan and garage, outfits, hairstyles and exclusive weapon patterns. The outlet also reports Rockstar Games has no physical Ultimate Edition for Grand Theft Auto VI, but Standard Edition purchasers can later buy the Ultimate Edition upgrade from PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store.

Grand Theft Auto VI is expected on PC in 2027. Khel Now says sometime in 2027, while FandomWire specifies the first quarter of 2027. FandomWire reports Grand Theft Auto 6 was originally targeted for a 2025 window before sliding to May 26, 2026, and then moving to November 19, 2026.
