Sony has postponed the Pulse Elevate wireless speakers for PlayStation indefinitely after quality testing uncovered a production issue, announcing the delay on November 6, 2026, in an update to its original PlayStation.Blog post, six days before the product was due to reach stores worldwide on November 12, 2026
Ongoing quality testing identified a production issue, and the extra time would let the product deliver the experience intended for players, Sony said in its statement. Sony said, “The additional time will allow us to ensure the product will deliver the experience we intended for our players.” The company apologized to the community, asked for patience, and said it looks forward to bringing Pulse Elevate to players soon. Sony has announced no new timeline, release date, or refund policy for the delay
Pre-orders opened in September 2026, with FandomWire specifying September 1, 2026 as the date they began. Eurogamer listed the price at £199.99 ($219.99), while PlayFront lists European pricing at €219,99, US pricing at $219,99, and UK pricing at £199,99. Tbreak lists prices of $219.99, €219.99, £199.99, and ¥37,980. Pre-order customers had secured units at those rates before the delay
Sony introduced Pulse Elevate in September 2025 as its first wireless desktop gaming speakers. The product links to PS5, PC, Mac, and PlayStation Portal using PlayStation Link and can simultaneously pair with a phone through Bluetooth. A microphone built into the right speaker uses what Sony calls AI-enhanced noise rejection. Sony designed the speakers with PlayStation 5 and PlayStation Portal in mind while allowing pairing with PC, Mac, and mobile gaming experiences
Midnight Black would be available everywhere, while the company limited the White version to a handful of countries including the UK, Sony said. IGN reported that the speakers would come in both Midnight Black and White but did not specify the UK-only restriction for White units
The speakers use planar magnetic drivers and support Tempest 3D AudioTech on compatible PlayStation 5 titles. PlayFront describes studio-grade magnetic drivers with integrated woofers, high-resolution audio support, and a battery rated for up to 12 hours of use. Tbreak says the design includes built-in woofers and connects over PlayStation Link or Bluetooth, and it distinguishes the speakers from the $99.99 Pulse headset, a separate product due on November 19
Pulse Elevate belongs to the same Pulse audio accessories line as the Pulse Elite headset and Pulse Explore earbuds. Sony also revealed a 27-inch gaming monitor in September 2025 that is coming only to the US and Japan
PlayFront calls the halt a complete surprise and says Sony officially confirmed on November 6 that internal action was needed after an error was found during ongoing quality control checks. The outlet says the last-minute cancellation indicates serious discrepancies surfaced during quality checks and points to a problem directly on the production lines, characterizing the move as a last-minute blow for gamers who had planned their setups around the November 12 date
Sony now has two announced PlayStation accessories whose launches have been pushed back indefinitely: Pulse Elevate and the FlexStrike wireless fight stick. The fight stick was delayed in July over unexpected production delays and still has no updated release date. Sony had set FlexStrike to launch on August 6, 2026 alongside Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, while Kotaku refers to the game as Marvel Token: Fighting Souls
The Pulse Elevate delay arrives amid wider hardware constraints. Sony has shipped 97.9 million PS5 units after a weak hardware quarter, and GTA 6 preloads open a week before the game’s launch. Kotaku frames the delay amid trade wars, component shortages, rising costs, and AI RAM hoarding that squeeze supply, though it says the specific cause for Pulse Elevate is unspecified. Sony unveiled a buyback program to keep gizmos circulating during the constrained period as part of its effort to manage hardware availability
Hardware influencers seemed to have received copies of Pulse Elevate before Sony announced the delay. Sony has remained silent on the extent of the production error, and it remains unclear whether already produced units need reworking or whether manufacturing is fundamentally disrupted. What happens to pre-orders placed since September is also unclear
