DroidDeck released version 0.6.7 on Oct. 29, 2026, merging game storefronts into one library for Android handhelds.
DroidDeck‘s unified Library shows both installed games and every game owned across connected stores, including Steam, GOG, Epic, Amazon, Xbox and itch. Source chips filter the list, and the LB and RB buttons switch between stores; a Filter menu chooses Installed only or All owned games and remembers the choice. Each game page works fully with a d-pad and offers Install, Launch, About, Achievements and Saves & cloud tabs. Store games now show download and installed sizes; the filter stays available even when the Stores tab is off.
DroidDeck added Battle.net as a store that lets users install games directly from the app. The update also enlarges the itch.io storefront, and GOG now offers updates, repairs and offline patches.
DroidDeck said Xbox Cloud Gaming streams games straight from a game’s page with no installation required. An optional native player uses DroidDeck’s frame generation.
DroidDeck said it does not stream games or run a Windows virtual machine. It executes Valve’s native Linux Steam client on the device itself. It provides a full Ubuntu desktop built on Kubuntu’s Plasma with Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, including Discover, apt, Flatpak and Snap, and the Android keyboard and Downloads and Documents folders work on the desktop. The Steam client runs under gamescope with an in-app Vulkan compositor at refresh rates up to 144 Hz, while ARM64 Proton and FEX handle Windows games through DXVK, which converts DirectX to Vulkan on Adreno GPUs.
DroidDeck said it needs Android 9 or newer with supported Adreno hardware and no root. AYN Odin 2, Retroid Pocket 5 and Ayaneo Pocket S are supported with Adreno 730 or newer GPUs. Devices with ARM Mali, Google Tensor or Exynos Xclipse GPUs are unsupported because they lack the Turnip Vulkan driver extensions. DirectX 11 games may run through DXVK 2, while DirectX 12 can still crash.
DroidDeck said updates make handhelds behave more like native SteamOS installs. Steam’s brightness and volume sliders now control real device brightness and media volume with bidirectional sync, and volume buttons show Steam’s volume indicator. Holding Back acts as the QAM button for Steam Input chords; the left bumper zooms, the right bumper takes a screenshot, moving the left stick up or down changes brightness, and holding B force quits a game.
DroidDeck said a tap of Back opens the session menu and a double tap swaps it, with the double-tap window settable from 100 to 800 ms. Steam integration settings live in one group in Setup > Overview, with switches for Wi-Fi names and brightness, DroidDeck as Home, and Home button shortcuts.
DroidDeck said dual-screen handhelds including the Retroid Pocket Duo and AYN Thor can now use the second screen. The launcher’s menu and keyboard move to the bottom while the top screen updates live, and the in-game menu can open on the second screen too. Holding Home sends the Steam Guide button, including on Retroid Nova pads, and the AYN button on the Thor keeps opening AYN’s panel. A phone or another screen can act as a trackpad, keyboard or terminal debugger in Dual Screen Companion Mode while the main screen keeps showing full-screen gameplay.
Sleep mode reportedly lost only 2% of battery during overnight testing, DroidDeck said. Users can suspend a session manually using the new Pause button, while suspend fixes free the microphone before a session freezes and stop controller rumble while the device sleeps. The update also increases performance, lowers power draw with a capped frame rate, and reduces heat.
DroidDeck said portrait mode now works for the launcher and sessions. The Android app and widget launcher gained search, sorting and filters, plus folders and resizable widgets. Library and store cards show the game’s art with its name and size on a slim fade at the bottom, plus a corner chip for updates, resumes and download percent. A new customizable DroidDeck HUD complements MangoHud for performance monitoring.
DroidDeck said the Controller & Gyro Editor maps physical buttons, back paddles and deadzones, calibrates gyro aiming, and offers on-screen virtual trackpads for desktop menus. The Linux desktop session also includes Firefox, a file manager and compiled ARM64 emulators. Those emulators include DuckStation, PPSSPP and RPCS3, which have no native Android builds.
DroidDeck said that since version 0.6.0, 28 people have contributed 210 pull requests, with 15 first-time contributors, and 68% of pull requests came from the community. Major contributions to the release came from xXJSONDeruloXx, maxjivi05 and The412Banner. The project is GPL-3.0 open source, an open-source license. It carries zero telemetry, no user tracking, no hidden monetization, no account harvesting, and its code is auditable on GitHub.

DroidDeck said tapping DroidDeck on the Android home screen opens Steam Big Picture at 1080p. The software runs in user space through proot, downloading runtime packages on first launch. On Android 12, the phantom process killer can end Steam’s background helper processes unless users turn off Restrict child processes in Developer Options.
