The Basecase costs $49 and ships with a Dock Stick that lets users keep the case on while docking the Switch 2. It also includes two interchangeable ergonomic grips (shaped pieces that users can swap) for customized comfort. Behind each Joy‑Con grip (the side handle that holds the Joy‑Con controller), hidden compartments can hold game cartridges.
The case is a snap‑on shell (a cover that presses on without tools) made of impact‑resistant polycarbonate (a tough plastic) that adds a uniform 2 mm thickness around the Switch 2 to protect it. Overmolded rubber edges (rubber molded onto the plastic) provide scratch resistance and create a raised border around the screen, while precision cutouts (exact openings) keep all buttons, ports and fan vents accessible.

The design leaves the built‑in kickstand (the console’s flip‑out stand) open after installation, and it carries a lifetime warranty. Users can swap the backplate (the rear panel) and grips for custom 3D-printable versions (files that users can print with a 3D printer), and the Basecase works with third‑party cases (cases from other manufacturers) and all Mechanism mounts (the company’s modular attachment system).
