Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a full 3D remake of the 1993 original Romancing SaGa 2. MNEURIX // QUEST and GoNintendo describe the remake as rebuilding the 1993 original around a full 3D presentation while keeping signature systems from the earlier game.

Players take on the role of Emperor of Avalon, defending the Empire across successive generations while trying to defeat the Seven Heroes. The Emperor expands the realm and defeats the vengeful Seven Heroes one by one.

More than 30 characters can become the new Emperor. Noisy Pixel includes this detail in its description of the generation-spanning succession mechanic.

The remake features Japanese and English voiceovers and an enhanced turn-based battle system. Original and rearranged compositions come from franchise composer Kenji Ito. Noisy Pixel lists these audio and combat features as part of the remake package.

The character system includes more than 30 classes, each with unique characteristics for weapons and spells. A free form scenario lets players progress in different ways based on their choices. Final Weapon highlighted the class system in its description of the remake alongside the free form scenario structure.

A demo is available in the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam marketplace. Save data from the demo transfers to the full game. Final Weapon noted the demo availability as a way for players to try the game before purchase.
