Blizzard buffs Druids and Mages, nerfs Subtlety Rogues Restoration Druids get major healing boosts while Subtlety Rogues lose 8% ability damage, with all changes taking effect Tuesday October 27, 2026. Blizzard's latest World of Warcraft Midnight class tuning goes live with the Tuesday October 27, 2026 weekly reset, buffing Druids and Mages while rolling back part of a Subtlety Rogue compensation buff. Community Manager Bethany Hudson published the notes ahead of the reset.
The headline healing change targets Restoration Druids, who have trailed other healers in dungeon burst-damage situations. Verdancy receives a 60% increase, Regrowth rises 10%, and Improved Swiftmend jumps from a 30% bonus to 40%. ExpCarry reported a 4% healing increase from the August 18, 2026 tuning pass, and mmoexp noted another 4% from the September 22, 2026 gold hotfix.
The August pass, announced August 15, also gave Restoration Druids a 20% player-versus-environment (PvE) damage increase, explicitly excluding player-versus-player (PvP), which received a separate healing reduction. Blizzard also warned that players should not use PvE changes marked as not affecting PvP for Arena conclusions, and that general changes lacking that note can interact with hidden PvP modifiers.

On the damage-dealing side, Feral Druids and Fire Mages each receive a straightforward 5% player-versus-environment damage increase. Fire Mages also keep the July 31, 2026 PvE increase they received earlier, and mmoexp reported their Meteor damage-over-time was already doubled in the September 22 hotfix. Marksmanship Hunters get area-damage relief: Explosive Shot and Volley each rise 10%, and Trick Shots, which boosts Aimed Shot and Rapid Fire, goes from 75% to 85%.
Subtlety Rogues are the only specialization receiving a player-versus-environment nerf this round. All ability damage drops 8%, and Trickster: Fazed falls from 7% to 5%. Blizzard says the compensation increase that arrived with patch 12.1.5 went beyond what it expected, and it cuts back part of that earlier rise.
"The buff Subtlety received as compensation alongside changes in the 12.1.5 patch overshot expectations,"
Blizzard, PCGamesN
Assassination Rogues, by contrast, have had a steadier ride: a 4% all-damage increase on August 18 following a July 31 buff, then a 4% cut in the September 22 hotfix while Outlaw gained 5%.
Patch 12.1.5, Midnight Season 2’s mid-season update, released the week of October 13, 2026. It added the single-boss raid The Unbinding of Kith’ix, the nine-wing Labyrinth of Kindo’jan mega-delve, and hourly Aqir Invasions in Eversong Woods and Zul’Aman. The crest cap lifted on October 20, 2026, so players who have been gating gear upgrades can now empower items with Ascendant Venomstones near the Silvermoon City Catalyst. A new Mythic+ achievement, Midnight Keystone Myth: Season 2, is now live, and Legion and Battle for Azeroth reputations are shared across the Warband.
Groups running The Unbinding of Kith’ix or the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan this week will be doing so under the old numbers, then switching to the new ones after the Tuesday October 27, 2026 reset.
Two pre-patch hotfixes already went out. One corrected Enhancement Shaman’s Surging Elements so it appears correctly when using the Cooldown Manager. Another stopped certain Warlock summons from erroneously targeting enemies outside of combat.
The broader PvP side of the tuning also touches several classes. Devourer Demon Hunters, Preservation Evokers, Marksmanship Hunters, Frost Mages, Mistweaver Monks, Holy Paladins, Holy Priests, Assassination Rogues, and Restoration Shamans are part of those broader PvP changes, while Unholy Death Knights and Fire Mages face nerfs in them.
The retail game’s class balance changes arrive ahead of the WoW Forever launch, which is now less than two weeks away from October 24, 2026. Whether that drives a population shift is something to watch once the beta wraps and the new version opens.
